Passing Notes In Class

Title: Passing Notes in Class
Pairing/Rating/Warning: vague Jack/Ianto, rated G
Word Count: 100
Summary:  A boring lecture might turn out interesting for Jack and Ianto afterall
Author's Note:  Some more silliness written for [profile] jadesfire2808

Jack couldn’t focus on the powerpoint demonstration.  Attending the lecture “Reinterpreting the Standard Suppositions on Alien Contact” had seemed a better choice than taking the “Alien Walking Tour of the Manhattan Sewers,” but eighty minutes later he was wondering if Owen had gotten the better deal.  Sewers were smelly, but at least your chance of slipping into a coma out of sheer boredom were slim.  He saw Ianto watching him so he mimicked smacking his head against the table.  Ianto slipped him a piece of paper...psychic paper...  Jack read it, his face flushing.  Maybe he’d chosen well after all....

*snigger* That's great too! Love it!

Wish I could come up with funny things on the spur of the moment like you do!

*snort* Brilliant :)

*giggle* I've been on the deeply boring powerpoint presentation, it definitely would have been more fun with Jack and/or Ianto.

[identity profile] bunnii0.livejournal.com 2007-10-30 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I could do with them two in my science lessons. I've fallen asleep three times now. :(

*chuckles* Wonderful. :D

LOL! Good use for the psychic paper! And I love the idea of Jack and Ianto passing notes in a boring lecture.

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2007-10-30 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
a better choice than taking the “Alien Walking Tour of the Manhattan Sewers,” but eighty minutes later he was wondering if Owen had gotten the better deal.

Hee, I would have gone with Owen on first choice. But I can see the attraction of psychic paper now...

Good original use of a fun prop! I wonder if Ianto found it in the archives.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-10-30 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
To be fair, these were both ideas I'd been kicking around for awhile... but I'm glad you liked them!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-10-30 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
:D Hope they made your day a bit brighter!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-10-30 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes I think the inventor of powerpoint should be shot... Glad you liked!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-10-30 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
thanks!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-10-30 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Who doesn't want to pass notes like that, right? *g*

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-10-30 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
People in Torchwood One in London were familiar with psychic paper, so I don't see why Ianto couldn't have some. Jack rightly assumed Manhattan sewers would be a bit smelly and cramped, not quite his cup of tea....

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2007-10-30 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, I think it's entirely plausible that Ianto might have some psychic paper. I'm just having fun imagining where he got it. He'd have to have known what it was in order to realize it was worth putting aside. Gosh, the things he could do with it! In addition to titillating Jack during a lecture! Hee.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-10-30 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I suspect there would definitely be some in the archives. And Ianto would certainly see the possibilities in it, wouldn't he?

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2007-10-30 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
He does have a talent for recognizing unusual potential in ordinary objects.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-10-30 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
So let's just add psychic paper to the stopwatch in that lovely category!

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2007-10-30 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Absolutely. :)

[identity profile] ayankha.livejournal.com 2007-10-30 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
ironically, i'm in class right now while the teacher goes over her lecture XD... also, i wonder if that's the same psychic paper Jack tried to use on Rose in Empty Child :3

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
hmm.. presumedly that paper was either left on the TARDIS with Jack's greatcoat or was 'defabricated' with everything else he was wearing when transmatted to the gamestation

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Incidentally - sorry to be so completely off topic here, but do you know where the Come As You Aren't Party is being held? For the life of me I can't remember, and I've been poking through people's journals looking and everything.

http://karaokegal.livejournal.com/

[livejournal.com profile] karaokegal is the one running it. Supposedly (according to [livejournal.com profile] _medley_) She posts when the party is open and we post links to our stories in comments, with a special header of the title, pairing. rating, summary and why its a costume.

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Ah hah, one of the journals I didn't try! Thank you!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
You're welcome. It looks like it goes "live" in a little over 4 hours. I think I'll wait till I'm up tomorrow to post mine though.

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Four hours? Yeah, me too I think, if I decide to post it. I'm a night owl, but I've got a long day tomorrow. :)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
The party is a week long, so you have plenty of time. Why would you consider not posting it?

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
::shrug:: It's just a short thing I did to see if I could, and it's not beta'd, and then tonight it got a little bit Jossed by the new episode of the show. Heh. But if there's a week, hey! Just need to decide if it's better to plunge in right away or wade in slowly.

[identity profile] daphne121.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
ROFL

Jack and Ianto definitely know how to make a boring presentation more fun!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 11:24 am (UTC)(link)
Everyone's working a little out of their element here, try to find a beta if it'll make you feel better, I put up a f-lock request for one to find someone familiar with the shows I needed

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
They would, wouldn't they? Glad you liked!

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)

That's a good idea! That would mean "coming out" to more than the four people on my flist who currently know that I've started writing fic, though. *g* I don't think any of them write in this fandom, if there's even a fandom for it. But maybe I should consider it. I sort of did that for a TW/Little Britain crack crossover I wrote once. Heh.

I went ahead and took the plunge. I'd never have posted it otherwise, I think!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
excellent! Off to go find it!

[identity profile] mad-jaks.livejournal.com 2007-11-02 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
*sporfle*

That's pretty spot on, *really*

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-02 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
haven't we all had to attend lectures like that? Glad you liked it!

[identity profile] mad-jaks.livejournal.com 2007-11-02 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
haven't we all had to attend lectures like that? OH good grief yes - before power point was even invented in my case *g*

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-02 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
my "favorites" were the ones where the person couldn't quite figure out the overhead projector and always put everything up unfocused or upside down or whathaveyou

[identity profile] mad-jaks.livejournal.com 2007-11-02 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Then when they finally got it sorted there'd *always* be one film that wasn't supposed to be there at all and they wouldn't realise and they'd still be talking as the whole rest of the room went HUH?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-02 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
or, once they did figure it out, they'd stand, half blocking whatever it was they were trying to show us while they continued to talk and fiddle with it at the same time...

[identity profile] mad-jaks.livejournal.com 2007-11-02 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Those were the days....

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-02 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
*sigh* How sad is it that I'm nostalgic for them?

[identity profile] mad-jaks.livejournal.com 2007-11-02 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
On a scale of 1 to 10?

About an 11 ;-)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-02 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
lol, sounds about right...
