Jimmy ran his hands along his pants, smoothing out the wrinkles. He wanted, no needed, to ace this interview. If he got the job he'd have a chance to work with Doctor Mallard, one of the best in the field, a living legend. Sure he was a little nervous, it was a perfectly normal reaction.
He took a deep breath.
He just wouldn't think about the rumor that the Assistant Medical Examiner position was open because the previous assistant had been shot. Wouldn't consider it at all.
He knocked quietly. He could do this. He could.
"Come in, Mr. Palmer."
