NCIS

New canon!

Tony's mom died when he was 8!

And he was left in Maui when he was 12.

They obviously have a strained relationship and barely talk, Tony didn't even know about his father's most recent marriage.

Gibbs: Tony likes to hide behind the face of a clown but he is the best young agent I've ever worked with.

Then Gibbs tells Daddy dearest about Tony having the plague! Dad didn't know!!!

Dad: I should tell you to piss off, but I do know Junior thinks the world of you, so I'll keep this civil... Do you have children Agent Gibbs?

Gibbs: Had. A daughter. But unfortunately I didn't get to know her as an adult. You have that opportunity, do it.

NEW RULE!!! Rule #6 NEVER SAY YOUR SORRY! (I updated my "Gibbs' Rules" list)

And his dad is completely broke!!

Dad calls him "Junior!" And Tony calls his father "Sir"

Aww, it ends with the dad telling Tony he loves him.

Then is scene with Tony and Gibbs sharing a steak!! At Gibbs' house!! Tony brought the beer. And they both pull out their knives (Rule #9!) to cut it!

And Gibbs saw right through Tony trying to con his dad. Awww.

Wish Tony had brought up the fact that Dad didn't realize that he had left Tony in Maui until Dad got the room service bill.

Yes, I was hoping to see that scene too!

[identity profile] kensieg.livejournal.com 2010-01-13 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
when did Dad lose his money?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2010-01-13 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
They didn't specify. Tony wondered if it had happened years and years ago.

[identity profile] kensieg.livejournal.com 2010-01-13 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
could be.

I can update my pillows now! Yay! Sorry was an unknown #....

And yay for new canon!

I'm so in love with this ep. So in love.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2010-01-13 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yes!! I was thrilled to find out sorry was an actual rule and not just a vague saying!

I was SO thrilled with the episode. I had set the bar VERY low and expected to be disappointed and embarrassed, but it was wonderful.

And the scene between Gibbs and DiNozzo, Sr.? SO PERFECT. Gibbs admitted to seeing through Tony's masks and how great an agent he is and Sr got his feathers all ruffled.

I'm just glad they didn't give it #5 because that would have screwed with my story I wrote about the Fifth Rule. ;-)

I really loved the Tony and Gibbs interactions throughout the show. It was perfect. And Tony's reaction to his dad was perfect too. I would LOVE to listen to commentary on this episode, especially if it was MW and RW or MW and MH or MW by himself... OR MW, MH AND RW.... *nods* :-)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2010-01-13 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
Bwha! Glad your story still works!

Due to crappy internet of late I haven't been able to watch many of the 150th episode specials and interviews that have been airing, but it really looked like MH and MW really loved working with RW and that he was thrilled to be there and liked working with all of them.

Holy cow, there is SO much fodder for the Gibbs/DiNozzo ship in this episode!

[identity profile] kaylashay.livejournal.com 2010-01-13 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
I know! I need to rewatch it to get a full... a full capture of everything this episode covered. And I LOVE that we got to see Gibbs praise Tony and show his concern over Tony almost dying and telling Tony's father that he should get to his son because Gibbs never had that chance. I loved that moment. MH did it perfectly.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2010-01-13 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
OMG that scene was killer. Everything I could have wanted and more! And RW's reaction to hearing about Tony being sick- that's GREAT acting, he looked like Gibbs punched him in the gut

[identity profile] kaylashay.livejournal.com 2010-01-13 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
And then he turned all inward and defensive when Gibbs started calling him on not knowing his son. Tony and his dad are really a lot alike in so many ways. And RW played it so well. You could tell he blended right in with the cast and I got the feeling that like he's said in interviews, he's watched the show many times.

I can't believe how many new icons you have for the episode already!

YES! I loved RW's bluster and "I'll keep this civil" while still seething.

I hope RW shows up again

I blame [livejournal.com profile] pruehall for the new icons... she's been posting all that promo material for the episode and it demanded icons be made:

adslkjalsa MUST SEE THIS EPISODE ASAP YES

It was a wonderful ep that totally did justice to Tony's back story! I loved it!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2010-01-13 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
YES!!! You totally must!

So much yay. I loved the last scene SO MUCH.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2010-01-13 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
oh YES, that scene was AMAZING

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2010-01-13 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Didn't it just fit seamlessly with preestablished canon and how Tony and his dad should be? It was perfect!

[identity profile] xanthe.livejournal.com 2010-01-13 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
YES! I was amazed that they got it SO right when usually they get this stuff SO wrong! ANd it fitted perfectly with Tony's canon and yet was also an amazingly fresh twist on how Tony's dad should be - I haven't read anything like it in fanfic. I completely loved what they did with it. Far better than I expected, given their recent lousy form ;-)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2010-01-13 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
the only minor niggle I could find (where previous canon didn't mesh with the new info) was that Tony mentioned at some point that his mom dressed him in sailor suits until he was ten. Yet, he states here his mom died when he was eight. It *could* have been a stepmom or something, but that's reaching.

[identity profile] xanthe.livejournal.com 2010-01-13 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought it was a small point - Tony's prone to exagerration and the sailor suit thing was a bit bonkers in the first place. I can believe she did it - but perhaps not past the age of 6, let alone up until she died! LOL!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2010-01-13 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
oh true, it could easily be an exaggeration!

[identity profile] butch16423.livejournal.com 2010-01-14 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
i think Tony defaults everything to the age of 10

mother dressed him in sailor suit until he was 10(frame up)

left in Maui (episode when the dad was abducted while the kid was on the merry go round)

boarding school 10 (kid carson aka mini tony- and the magnum PI bed)

even poo boy was at 10 years of age - Silver wars
