You've already heard my comments, but I'll put them here for other people to read too.

I love your characterisation. Everyone feels very much like themselves, and I love Owen's snarky one-liners.

I love the stuff about the colour 'mauve', because it's just so "What the hell?"

I love Maggie's remark to Jack about protecting himself as much as he protects others.

And I adore the ending with the weevil, because I'd spent the whole story trying to think what alien he'd show here and hadn't even thought of the weevils in the basement *g*
