I was assigned to write the Haven story and I was happy to see that focusing on the minor characters was requested, most of the fic and discussions in that fandom seem to revolve around some combination of Nate/Duke/Audry and, while I love the show, that is definitely not something I could write about. (Especially Duke, he has been nicknamed "Pirate Guy" in my house and my 15 yr old daughter spends many an episode yelling at him to go die in a hole whenever he appears on the screen.) The Teagues brothers on the other hand? I could definitely write something about them.
There's not a lot of fandom knowledge needed to read The Pen Is Mightier Than The Truth. All you need to know is Haven is a town where weird things sometimes happen.
After finishing that story I began trawling through the prompts for other things to write. Covert Affairs caught my eye, it was a fandom I'd somehow missed seeing that it had been nominated so I hadn't offered to write it, but I love Auggie so I looked to see if any prompts regarding him had been made.
Once I saw
thetidebreaks's prompt Facing Adversity practically wrote itself- Auggie, being Auggie and hospitals being impossible to navigate (something I'd recently experienced- really were the architects drunk when laying out the halls and departments there?).
I was *SO* happy to see that someone other than myself had requested Big Valley. I *LOVED* *LOVED* *LOVED* Big Valley and actually I was the one to add it to the Yuletide list of nominated fandoms. Something I really love about Big Valley is that everyone has their own style of speaking and although I didn't manage to get Heath into the story, having Jarrod, Nick and Silas all interacting was just fun.
And as for NCIS:LA, ages ago I had bemoaned OOCness in fics and a friend of mine and I had traded back and forth the most OOC action our favorite characters could do. He came up with the idea of Hetty baking for the gang, so when I saw the request for light-hearted team banter and Hetty being awesome, how could I resist figuring out a way to slip that into a fic?
Last, but not least, Southland. WHICH IS RETURNING TO TNT THIS TUESDAY *ahem, I may be a bit excited about that* I love Ben and John's relationship, how could I not jump on the chance to write a ficlet about it?
