By a vote of 37-30 the MN senate passes the Freedom To Marry bill! Governor Mark Dayton has already released a statement saying he will sign into law House File 1054/Senate File 925, granting all Minnesotans the freedom to marry on the Capitol South Steps at 5pm.

YAY MINNESOTA!!!!!

I'm sorry, but the ambiguity in this made me cackle evilly:

So, if I lived in Minnesota I could now get married on the steps, provided I turn up at 5pm exactly? :D Hope it's not too crowded.

I know, it's weirdly worded. It would be awesome if people could get married then and there, but it's just signing the bill. I think it'll become legal in August or July or something.

And the governor signed it today so it's law and people can start getting married as of August 1st!
