watsons_woes JWP#31. Title from "Show Me the Way to Go Home."
Greg got to his feet and stretched, trying to work the kinks out of his back. John, who'd abandoned the case notes strewn floor a bit back, caught his eye. "Care for a bit of wall, Inspector?" he asked, patting the spot of panelling next to where he'd been leaning.
"Anything's better than that floor," he grumbled, not even trying to keep the frustration out of his voice. "Why was Sherlock so insistent that we meet here and not at the station? Or Bakers Street for that matter? Or, perhaps, I don't know, at least somewhere with a table?"
Before John could answer Sherlock's phone blared, "Duunnn dunnn... duuuunnnn duun... duuunnnnnnnn dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun-" getting louder and louder as Sherlock pulled it out and started furiously poking at it.
"And that would be the reason," John commented dryly.
"And the theme to Jaws means…" he began to ask only to have John raise an eyebrow at him. "Mycroft?" he guessed.
"Mycroft."
"Ah," was all Greg could think to say since as far as reasons went Mycroft was at least an understandable one and, when the music didn't stop, he began to hum along.
