Hey look, it's not a links post!
Well, not a links compilation post anyway as there are going to be links in it but other stuff too.... (and I do hope all those posts aren't annoying anyone. I think there'll only be 2 or 3 more though. Also, as an FYI I've been adding links to older ones as I come across them so there might be a lot more if you look back at one.)
I totally forgot to update everyone on Molly, whom I last reported having a stoke/seizure in mid december. Other than some balance issues (mostly of the doggy headshake/earfwap and then fall over variety) she seems to have recovered nicely! Look how cute she is:

And, wow, she has gone grey. Here's a picture of her from March 2011, when she'd been with us about 6 months:

Anyway, good doggie is good doggie, although she'd like the snow to go away so it's easier for her to snort about on our walks.
Links-wise, these aren't writing/research related but still come neat things I thought I'd share:
The Victorian Telediagraph- a device for sending/receiving pictures as described/demonstrated back in April 1900. Pretty amazing.
And here's a hysterical article (with wondrous illustrations) of "Future Dictates of Fashion" as published in the Strand magazine in June 1893. (very tongue-in-cheek) I feel slightly putout that the fashion of the 1990's went in a different direction.
