Ben, at some point, had told Jack not to flirt with his friends, but now doesn't want Jack and Ray on the shooting range either, knowing that would only lead to flirting (Jack, in canon, has a very interesting way of demonstrating how to use the various guns in Torchwood's collection) so Ben cut the conversation off at the pass.
