Living the Lie

Title: Living the Lie
Pairing/Warning/Rating: NCIS fandom, no pairings, rated G
Word Count: 100
Summary: It's not easy to maintain a cover.
Author's Note: Written for the [livejournal.com profile] ncisdrabble100 challenge: secrets

The truth can be a hard thing to tell.  Impossible even, especially when trying to maintain a cover.  It’s easier, so much easier, to say nothing at all.  But, if you’re good, and I do mean good,  you can deflect things in such a way that no one even notices your words were nothing more than cotton candy, light and fluffy, and completely void of anything worthwhile.  Doing that is difficult in its own way, trying to keep stories straight and various lies from dueling when they butted up against one another.  But necessary.  Especially when lives depend on it.

Yup! There's time for real life tomorrow. Today? No more of it.

Mine has become very very busy all of the sudden. It's eating away my online time. I'm not sure yet whether I approve of this. Some of it, maybe. But not to this extend!

understandable. but college/university is a good this, as is babysitting and cooking and whatnot that helps pay the bills

college is absolutely awesome, though very time consuming. There are no bills because babysitting replaces the rent. there's a lot of... social stuff. Which will probably calm down at some point. Hopefully. I'm not adverse to going out, but three times a week? A bit overkill.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
then the babysitting is that much more important. Although there's still food and whatnot to buy. right?

Things will settle down once the semester gets going a little more

There is, but I get money from my parents, so that works out fairly well.

I sure hope they will! I think college-stuff is actually going to be a lot more work than it is now, but maybe the social stuff will calm down somewhat. though if I take up sports the way I was planning to, I can probably forget about that. Seriously, when did I get a life?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
getting a life is not a BAD thing!

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
It isn't! There's just SO MUCH of it all of the sudden.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
take a deep breath! It's okay! It'll be fun and exciting!

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It is! It's awesome! BUT THERE'S SO MUCH OF IT!

*breathes*

*hugs back* so how are things for you?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
busy and nuts. school's started for my kids and work is in the busy season and it's only 2 months to my daughter's bat mitzvah. *takes deep breath myself*

*breathes with you* ... we should eat lots of donuts to calm us down.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
