“There’s my girl. Give us a kiss.” Rhys bent down and places a feather-light kiss on the top of her head. “Have a good day today, sweetheart?”
“No.”
“Really?”
“No!”
“So that’s not chocolate cake all over your face?”
“No.” Picking up a block, she held it up to Rhys.
“If I help you build a tower, you’re going to knock it down as soon as we finish, aren’t you?”
“No!”
“I bet you will.” He got down on his knees. “I want a hug first, kiddo.”
“No!” She toddled over and threw her arms around him.
“That’s my girl.” He hugged her tight. “We’ll play with your blocks in a minute, but let’s go see what your Mam’s making for dinner first, okay?”
“No!”
Rhys laughed. “I couldn’t have guessed you’d say that. But tell you what, I’ll give you a horsey ride into the kitchen.”
“Horsey!” she screamed, bouncing up and down as he placed her on his back.
“That’s right, horsey." He couldn't help laughing as she squealed with delight. "Hold on tight!” he called out as he clomped his way down the hall.
