September Fic List and Ramble

Owen's Powdered Sugar Plans- 13th powdered sugar crack!fic, rated G, 100 words

Told You So- NCIS, Tony was right and Kate was wrong..., rated G, 200 words (ncisdrabble100 challenge: bad idea)
4 drabbles, one double drabble, one ficlet and one regular story. 3184 words. Not too impressive.
Lets see.. wrote my 100th drabble this month and tackled a new fandom-Supernatural.
Supernatural must be a MUCH bigger fandom than SGA or NCIS or Torchwood considering the comments I got on my story, which I thought was sort of surprising, but really exciting at the same time. I started reading massive amounts of fic in that fandom after the season premeire rekindled my interest in the show. I'm not sure I *need* a new fandom, but then again I never really got into DW and I'm basically out of TW (with the exception of things by my f-list and a few others) and I'm not all that into SGA (too much slash, thanks), NCIS is pretty small, and House has too few stories I'm interested in... so maybe a new fandom's not a bad thing. Despite all the wincest, there is actually a lot of good adventure/mystery h/c Supernatural fic out there. Or at least enough backlog of stories to keep me interested for awhile. I might write more for it, with out without Jack there.
I've become pretty addicted to the friend of friends page, which shows you all non f-locked posts by the people on your friend's f-lists. It's kind of neat to try to figure out who's interested in who and whatnot. I suppose mine is a little easier by having a small f-list, but I've found some interesting reads and things there.
I do want to actually write something more than a drabble soon that does *not* involve 20+ hours of research (like my SPN fic and the SGA h/c I'll be posting tomorrow both did). Quit it. It's not necessary to be that anal.
I still have no ideas for my "come-as-you-aren't" costume. I've been having fun working with
_medley_ on a project, but I don't think it's going to wind up as something we can count as a costume so I will have to come up with something else. *puts on thinky face*
I set up a fic comm awhile ago.
donutville And I've got links to all my old stories on it... now I just need to decide if I want to start actually using it or not.

I loved your Supernatural story. I'm not in the fandom at all, but I'm excited that you're enjoying it! If you really get interested (especially in the actors) ask me to introduce you to
Donutville! Cool. Is there a reason you set it up as a community, not a regular journal? I'm always curious about why people - iconmakers for instance - do that. Is it so people can watch the community without friending?

The friending/watching thing didn't occur to me.
No idea if I'll really get sucked into Supernatural or not. I spent ages reading House for awhile there, but only wrote the one thing and have pretty happily just stayed on the sidelines. But.. Dean is very pretty and is fun to whump and you can have a lot of fun with monsters and ghosts... so, there's a good chance I'll stick with it.
Does only reading/writing fic count as being "in" the fandom? I've never been sure.

Gah, there aren't any free journals anymore? That sucks! Livejournal has changed a lot recently.

I can definitely see that being true! As for what constitutes being "in" a fandom - huh. I hadn't even thought about it, I just assumed it did mean reading and writing the fic, or participating in communities and discussion (but not necessarily both - because if meta is required, then I'm barely even in Torchwood fandom. And I consider it my *major* one.)
If you're going to post to Donutville I definitely want to friend it! Do you think I should?

I tried the two LJ thing for a bit with my bigbang (posting bits for medley to read and comment on as I was writing) and found it a bit confusing.
I haven't really decided about donutville. I like having everything here, but at the same time it would be nice to separate out the people who are only interested in my fic.

And I approve of the amount of NCIS fic in that list. And supernatural is great - I kinda really have to catch up on that. I'm stuck somewhere at 3.08 or so.

Actually, I watched S1 of SPN when it aired, and then maybe 3 episodes of S2 and almost none of S3, but was curious about the premiere of S4 and got REALLY sucked in.. so overall, you've probably seen more than I have.

:) If I start posting over at donutville, I'll definitely post a notice here as well, at least for awhile

And they were thoroughly well deserved - it was great

And, for some reason, I can't stop laughing at that phrase. I blame SPN for blowing my mind.

Although, the hell part is probably right.
