Everyone knows Gibbs never locks his door. When the odd situation arises that he’s asked about it, he’ll claim it’s because he lost his keys years ago and never got around to calling a locksmith to make him a new set. But, while true, that’s not the reason, not the real reason anyway. Locks have one purpose and one purpose only, to protect what is inside. Shannon and Kelly had made his house a home, but without them it is just a place to live, somewhere to keep his things. There was nothing that mattered enough to keep safe anymore
