Hurray for customer service ineptitude

I was on the phone with the customer service of a very fancy jewelry company earlier today to return a present my daughter got.  Their policy is that, since the bracelet arrived broken, shipping is free within the US.

"Where do you live, Ma'am?"

"Minnesota."

"I'm afraid that will require international shipping charges then."

"Why?  It's a state."

"A state of what?"

*headdesk*

I'm sorry but.... hahahahahahahahaha

I really did LOL.
A state of what *snorfle*
I mean I don't do US Geography and even *I* know that one.

You just have to laugh at it, don't you?

lolol

Um. Wow. I know sometimes we jokingly call folks from the North foreigners, but um. Maybe whoever you talked to is living in some weird alternate universe where the South won the Civil War? No?

I couldn't quite place the accent- definitely american, not overtly east coast but with a touch of it, but also with a little typical southern, no idea but the fact she was AMERICAN and didn't know MN astounded me.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_medley_/ 2008-11-11 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I know. That's just crazy.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
It was the 'state of what' that really sent the conversation over the edge though. She was serious. *sighs*

State of mind? State of grace? State of matter? State of...I can't think of any more.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
State of being, errr.... One hopes she actually knew that the US was the United STATES

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
Wow.

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
.... Even I could have done better than that and I fail at geography!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
If MN is no longer in the US does that mean I don't have to pay my taxes anymore?

*snerk* great icon

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope I just caught her right before her coffee break or something, because otherwise....

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish.

I couldn't help myself. So many people commented on Tosh's screen after that TW episode (I think that was the circus people one), I just had to make it.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't even remember that being in the episode. Oops, I guess I need to pay attention better!

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
It's what showed up when she was trying to figure out why the scans kept showing Cardiff was flooding.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
oh! I have to admit, my memory of S2 is sketchy at best, there's only a few scenes I've wanted to rewatch. Although some of those I've watched MANY times

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Same here. I've only watched most of them once through.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
But have *certain* scenes warranted multiple viewings?

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, definitely. I mean, I had to figure out just where Ianto's hands were, after all.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
bwhahaha!

I watched most of KKBB several times, and the adorable jack/ianto scene in the episode with the WWi soldier Tommy and ummm, maybe the scene you're talking about. maybe. a few times

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Otherwise, there is a LOT wrong with that. I mean, there is anyway, but at least maybe we could find within us the ability to excuse her complete and utter fail?!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
as long as nothing goes wrong and the bracelet gets replaced and the chick did her job she's going to be excused in my book. But if it doesn't....

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Moohahaha.

I watched KKBB a few times, too. That was just a fun episode.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
KKBB was a great start to the season- action, romance, sexy scenes, sweet and moving scenes, only a few scenes that needed fastfowarding (*cough* Gwen *cough)
