So, shoveling snow not as much fun as sweeping donuts. I'll make a note.

Weird thing is it was in the 30's F here yesterday. And raining.

I actually have some gloves and a scarf. My kid gave them to me for Christmas one year. They live in a box in my car along with a sweater. :-)

We *had* snow! Last week on the 10th. The first time we've had snow that early since the 40s. It was very weird. We usually only get snow (when we do at all - it's generally about once a decade) in January or February. I stood on my porch in my robe and watched it come down. ;-) It was all gone by morning, though. :-(
It wasn't until the 11th that I remembered the gloves and scarf, though. ;-)

We've even got ice here! It was in the mid-60s yesterday and by midnight it was below 30, I guess the windchill is in the teens. Which is really so much warmer than y'all's weather! But we don't have the right clothes for it. Going out to take care of all the animals (including a trek through the icy pasture), I wore my pajamas, plus overalls, plus a hoodie, fleece jacket, and my huge Who scarf wrapped around four times, but the wind was still FREEZING! And my toes fell off. Almost.
We've even got ice here! It was in the mid-60s yesterday and by midnight it was below 30, I guess the windchill is in the teens. Which is really so much warmer than y'all's weather! But we don't have the right clothes for it. Going out to take care of all the animals (including a trek through the icy pasture), I wore my pajamas, plus overalls, plus a hoodie, fleece jacket, and my huge Who scarf wrapped around four times, but the wind was still FREEZING! Yeah, it does shut down. Had the temperature not risen, we would have been shut down on the 11th. As it was, a school district on the east side of the city (they got the most snow) had a delayed opening.

schools almost never close here. Like, once a decade. Which depresses my kids to no end.
It depresses my kid when they close - she loves school. :-) I suspect it has more to do with her friends being there than anything else. :-)
and then there's always the bummer when you actually HAD finished your homework or were all ready for that test
Oh, yeah! Like last night when she ended up staying up until 4 to finish a major project. If she'd ended up being shut out of school today, I think there might have been bloodshed. ;-)

I think the whole eastern 2/3 of the country had that sudden drop! Crazy.
Our dogs actually have good dog houses, and Gitta is some kind of Northern breed mix, so she just curls up like a Husky with her nose under her tail and is so happy. The pit bulls we've been feeding aren't as well off, though, their coats are so thin! But they found a warm dry place in the barn. The one I worry about is the horse - we've got an insulated blanket on her, but no livestock barn, and she won't go in the lean-to (which is dry and out of the wind) unless I lead her, and then she won't stay. It would be okay if it wasn't *wet*. But they've made it through before. :) This seems to happen at least once a year.
