BRRRR

Just spent an hour shoveling. It's -4°F before windchill or -27°F with it (that's -20/-33 C).  Holy cow I'm cold.

So, shoveling snow not as much fun as sweeping donuts. I'll make a note.

Makes me think of that Simpson's episode where Homer was bopping through time and making alternate realities. Remember the one where it rained donuts? But he ran away before he found out? :D

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I remember that Simpsons! *sighs* donuts from the sky. sounds lovely

[identity profile] stackcats.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Crikey ._.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
and that's the HIGH of the day.

WTF am I doing in MN?

[identity profile] stackcats.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
You should pop over here and warm up. It's a cosy 4 C!

I always think of America as a nice warm place; easy to forget you have ALL kinds of climate!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Weird thing is it was in the 30's F here yesterday. And raining.

Usually I don't mind MN or the cold. But that's when it doesn't make my fingers ache.

[identity profile] adafrog.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh man! And I thought 9F was cold.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
anything under 20 is cold... it's just a matter of HOW cold

So... is this where I say we had a cold front come through today and the temperature plummeted to it's current level of 45? :-)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
well, it's all relative. 45's cold for where you are
ext_3440: (Default)

[identity profile] tejas.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
True. If this keeps up I might have to actually buy a jacket or a coat.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
let alone gloves or a scarf or something. :)

[identity profile] tejas.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually have some gloves and a scarf. My kid gave them to me for Christmas one year. They live in a box in my car along with a sweater. :-)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
So if the temp drops down even further you're set! Who's up for some snow! *snickers*

Wow, that's COLD. I hope you had some hot cocoa when you got in!

We've even got ice here! It was in the mid-60s yesterday and by midnight it was below 30, I guess the windchill is in the teens. Which is really so much warmer than y'all's weather! But we don't have the right clothes for it. Going out to take care of all the animals (including a trek through the icy pasture), I wore my pajamas, plus overalls, plus a hoodie, fleece jacket, and my huge Who scarf wrapped around four times, but the wind was still FREEZING! And my toes fell off. Almost.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
We had a similar temp drop (high 30s sunday in the later morning) Oh dear- you weren't prepared at all for that! and the poor animals!

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
I think the whole eastern 2/3 of the country had that sudden drop! Crazy.

Our dogs actually have good dog houses, and Gitta is some kind of Northern breed mix, so she just curls up like a Husky with her nose under her tail and is so happy. The pit bulls we've been feeding aren't as well off, though, their coats are so thin! But they found a warm dry place in the barn. The one I worry about is the horse - we've got an insulated blanket on her, but no livestock barn, and she won't go in the lean-to (which is dry and out of the wind) unless I lead her, and then she won't stay. It would be okay if it wasn't *wet*. But they've made it through before. :) This seems to happen at least once a year.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
good for the pittbulls finding a warm place in the barn. Poor horse though, I hope it doesn't stay too cold there for too long

Meanwhile, it's 76 degrees here...(or at least it was earlier today.)

*sends sunshine to thaw you out*

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
it's even colder out now. Sometimes I hate MN

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
Damn. And I thought it was cold here.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
-12 out now, before windchill. I hate MN

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-12-17 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Ok, you officially win, even though I doubt you want to.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-12-17 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
and it'll get worse, Jan is always colder

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-12-17 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
I'm really hoping that's not the case, here, but I have a bad feeling...
