BRRRR

Just spent an hour shoveling. It's -4°F before windchill or -27°F with it (that's -20/-33 C).  Holy cow I'm cold.

I always find things eventually... just usually months after they were helpful

I can usually lay hands on anything I need, but I couldn't *tell* anyone where anything is. :-)

The WORST is when you have a stupid place where you keep something. It's dumb, in the way or hard to get to, but it's always been where you put X. Then one day you think of the PERFECT PLACE for X. Easy to get at, to the side and not out and in the way anymore... so you move X there.

and the next time you need X all you can remember is your original place for it and the decision to move it. *headdesk*

Or is that just me?

LOL!!! No, it's not just you! It's why, for example, I always have to move the large funnel out of the quart measuring cup whenever I want to use said cup. I *only* ever use the funnel to fill my CPAP reservoir, while I use that large measure cup for lots of things.

I still can't figure out why the funnel is in the kitchen instead of the bathroom with the vinegar (that is also only used to clean the CPAP reservoir).

But there it is. :-)

We are *such* creatures of habit.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
and god forbid if that habit is disrupted!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
and if someone *helps* you clean or put things away you are SO DOOMED

Oh, god. That's the worst of both worlds.

If you're lucky you'll still be finding things three years later. Otherwise, it's gone for good!

And contrary to popular belief, just because you haven't used it in 6 months, doesn't mean you don't need it.

Think about that box of papers you tossed the next time you can't find your birth certificate, your passport or your social security card. ;-)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
ooooh, losing those would be bad. I tend never to toss thing, but then go through a cleaning binge and organize and toss and box and give away... and regret it like mad 3 months later when I'm desperately searching for something and it's GONE

I think my ex did that to my birth certificate. Not maliciously, just in one of those fits of organizing.

On the other hand, I had my SS card before the divorce and haven't seen it since.

oh YIPES. That's not good

Such a pain to have to get a new one.

I guess I'll have to one of these years.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
the weird thing is it's essential, yet really not needed, depending. If you don't need a passport, or a new marriage license or a new job (depending on the job) you don't need the SSN card or birth certificate.

[identity profile] tejas.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, but you do, mon cher. If you *ever* plan to collect social security or if you *ever* have the misfortune of losing your driver's license (been there, suffered that), it can be a huge PITA.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, but you don't need it every day- just on THOSE days.

And I suppose, considering how much we;ve paid into to social security, actually getting some money back would be nice

Yeppers. Looking forward to it, myself. ;-)

looking forward to it, but not counting on it here

Social security being there is the least of our worries. :-)

good point
