Wherein I may be MIA

Since Monday my internet has been spotty and slow and was actually out for a few hours yesterday.  Comcast is "aware" of the problem and is "in the process of fixing it."  However, since they also gave the helpful advice of going to their webpage for 'convient updates with their progress' I do not have high hopes for their abilities.

Today it is out again so I've gone to the local library, which has computers and allows one hour of internet usage per patron per day.  *sighs*

But at least that was long enough to look up some info I need for a story I'm not going to write.  Not enough, unfortuantely, but I'm happy because hopefully it's an idea for something longer than a ficlet, which is all my brain seems capable of these days.

Yeeeess, they've told me that before, too. *eyeroll* Also, when I call to tell them my phone is out, they want to know if I'm calling them from my home phone. Um. No?

Oooh, story you're not writing... *waits*

(6 minutes left at the library now)

Comcast *growls*

NCIS/Spn crossover. Set preseries for both and then present. I think. If it works

I need TW/DW ideas though. I can't seem to come up with anything long for those fandoms.

Oh, I've pretty much decided to use a skip for round 6 on LFWS- 400 word Teyla POV h/c with one other female character (i.e. Sam or Elizabeth or Jennifer) None of those people really *have* characters.

Ooh, I've always been sort of fond of Teyla and Elizabeth, the whole leaders-of-their-people thing. But the one time I tried to write Elizabeth, it was Epic Fail.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I like Elizabeth, and Teyla. But I can't *hear* them if that makes sense. I've written both as minor characters, but I cant imagine trying as a lead character

Oh, yeah, I definitely know what you mean. *nods*

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
but who knows, I was positive I wouldn't write anything for round 5 and then out of the blue got clocked over the head with a story idea. Although since I can *hear* rodney, something similar happening is less likely this time around.

I'm also just a little tired of the forced POV. I'd really like prompt that was more up to interpretation

I'd think they'd get boring to read, too. That many stories at once with the same POV. Well, it's probably high time you used a skip anyway.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
there are only 17 writers left. and there were only 12 entries last time, no idea how many will do a skip this time.

If an idea strikes I'll write, but if not, having the skip to use is nice

I really hope the next one isn't Ronon POV

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_medley_/ 2009-01-07 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Ronon would be difficult, I'd think. *nods*

god, he'd be impossible!

Libraries are *good*. I would have been lost without my library last year when I had no net access from home for nearly 3 weeks.

when you can get a computer they're awesome. It just gave me 15 more minutes because there was no one waiting, but soon I'm sure it'll kick me off.

but yes. I LOVE libraries. the computers, books, dvds, everything!

the helpful advice of going to their webpage for 'convient updates with their progress'

They sound like a bunch of geniuses. Good luck!

Oh no. {{hugs}}

Oh, boooo Comcast. I'm sorry! I'm glad you have the library for your fix, but I really hope Comcast gets their act together soon. ::hugs::

It started working again last night, but firefox wouldn't load LJ until I deleted that delicious bookmarking addon. Oh well, minor loss for having LJ back!

Ah, Comcast.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-01-08 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
gotta love hate them. It's working now *crosses fingers*

It's great internet...when it's working.
