“Get down here and help, Turlough!” Tegan reached out to pull him down, but Turlough stepped back and out of her reach.
“I am not about to do that.” He tugged on his tie before crossing his arms. “And I have no idea why you would even want to.”
“We live in the TARDIS now. We need to prove to the Doctor that we can be counted on to pull our weight around here.”
“And you really think the Doctor will drop us off at the next planet if we don’t?”
“Turlough, it’s called being helpful,” Tegan said, sitting up.
Turlough merely peered down at her. “If you want to be helpful, then by all means, continue. I have better things to do with my time.”
“Turlough.”
“No, I don’t care. No matter what argument you try to use. It’s unnecessary.”
“No, it’s not. Now you will get down here and help me.”
“I will not.”
“Yes, you will.”
“Why?”
“Weeding breeds character.”
“No, it doesn’t. It breeds calluses.”
“Turlough.” Hands on her hips, she pursed her lips and glared at him.
“Fine! But, only until supper.”
Tegan grabbed another stray clover from between the stepping stones. “Until supper.”
Turlough got down on his knees and pulled half-heartedly at a dandelion. “And not one minute more.”
Tegan bent down to hide her face as she smiled. “Not a minute more.”
