Does it count as a Supernatural crossover if you're 3k into the story and all that's crossed over is the car?

Sure, I think so! I mean, if the TARDIS showed up in a Supernatural fic, even if there were nobody in it, it would be a crossover, right?

you know- that is a very good point.

of course, if I could just figure out where the story was going that might help...

Okay I'm going to go a little indepth but this is how it works in my mind.

Once you cross one element from one story, fandom, etc. Everything in both fandoms is FACT. Unless you the author make execptions and explain to the reader, watcher, etc, what has changed or isn't true. Anything can begin a crossover, a Character, a letter, object, planet, animal. Once you cross the two, or more fandoms you are in control of the story!

that *does* make sense. I suppose it's like anytime we create a 'verse of any sort. We (as authors) set the parameters of the world it'll take place in and go from there

Nope- not a big bang. I vaguely considered signing up for

sncross_bigbang, but haven't yet (15k min, sign ups continue for awhile yet)

I'm doing it again- writing a bad/evil thing without any idea of what or who or how. *facepalms*

In a way it's a very free canon- set 1995- preseries NCIS and SPN so next to no knowledge of the characters (as they appear currently) is needed. But in another way- OMG creating OC's and a whole universe *AUGH*

*twitches* OK, that would be hard for me. I'm much better at stealing universes. *g*

Now, I know why I never attempted anything like this before. I don't think I've even seen a preseries NCIS that's not a 'how Gibbs and DiNozzo met' story (canon says Tony was a cop in Baltimore where Gibbs found him and hired him on at NCIS. There is a brief mention that before Baltimore, Tony was in Philly and before that Peoria.) So, randomly, I chose Peoria for my crossover story. Why? Because I am INSANE.

IL. No idea why Tony was there though- We know he went to college at Ohio State, before that Rhode Island Military Academy, before that lived with his family in NY (Long Island)

yep- it keeps growing. I really need to decide how/where I'm going with it to see where to take it.

One of these days I will plan a story out before I write it. One of these days
