UK english question

As a joke the TW team mentions selling off the old stuff in the archives as a way to make room for new things. Would this be a car boot sale or jumble sale or something else?

(In the US I'd call it a rummage sale or tag sale or yard sale or something like that.)

ETA- I think I'll just have them joke about putting things on Ebay. Thanks!

Thanks!

So, is holding a jumble sale make a little better sense than if they went to a car boot sale?

I was thinking it would be for them to sell off stuff at their own sale, not drop off a pile of things for someone else to sell.

If they held a jumble sale, they would put a table up in the Information office with items for sale on it. In the UK, people often give unwanted items to charity organisations, schools or churches, who then hold fetes or jumble sales and sell the items back to the donors. Or something...

At a car boot sale, you pay a fee to bring your car on site, and you sell the items from the back of your car.

I actually think Torchwood would be more likely to Ebay stuff, but that may not suit your fic.

It's all said in jest, so if ebay would make more sense, then I'll go that way. Thanks!
