Adventures of the Coffeepocalypse

I discovered I was out of coffee this morning so decided to stop and pick up a cup and some beans at the coffee shop that opened recently near the kids school.

I dropped the kids off, parked there and walked to the shop (4 blocks, exercise is good, right?) Once there I examined the menu. And discovered all the drinks have cutesy names (storybook creatures).

I am in trouble.

So I order what I hope is a large latte.

I pay and wait for them to make the drink. Take a sip. No idea what it was, but it wasn't bad.

Then I remember the beans.

Put the drink down and ask for the pound of beans and for them to be ground. Pay for that. Get the beans and walk to the car. And realize I didn't have the drink.

Oops.

Back to store, get drink (where I left it, thankfully) and trip on stack of newspapers on floor and spill drink everywhere. Nice person behind the counter makes me another. Trudge back to car and realize I left the beans at the store.

Double oops.

Back to store. Nice person behind counter does not laugh when I walk in again. Make it back to the car with beans and coffee. Then I somehow get lost driving home. I've only driven this route every school day for five years.....

The coffeepocalypse is upon us.

Now if you wrote that I swear hardly anyone would actually believe you. Truth is so much stranger than fiction.

I'm glad you, the coffee and the coffeebeans made it home safely in the end.

*headcar* doesn't have the same ring to it as *headdesk* but it was certainly that sort of morning. My coffee maker is happily burbling away now though and my not-quite latte has been finished so all is right with the world. :)

*passes extra-large mug* It sounds like you need it!

Why is it that we all perform complex tasks without even blinking, but when it comes to simple things like remembering what we went upstairs for, we draw a complete blank? It's weird...

Oh yes! The old 'I opened the closet for a reason....' brain freeze moment! I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that! :)

LOL!

Oh one of those days! I had a horrible coffee day about two weeks ago. I was out of all coffee (I am a coffee snob who will have three different types of coffee plus cappicino mix) and decided to make a run because I needed my caffeine. I live next to my mom (she LOVES that,50% of the time I do her errands around town) so I asked her if she needed me to pick anything up since I was going to the store anyway. She gives me a small list. I end up getting everything but my coffee because I get called three times in the store so she can tell me to pick something else up, and then a fourth time to swing by and get her medicine which came in. I get home, and still no coffee, I stole mom's decaff just to have pretend coffee.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
oh GAH! I've done that too. Picked up a ton of things while on errands except the one thing that prompted me to do errands in the first place!

[identity profile] stackcats.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
XD glad you made it home safe, though!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
:) I was then yelled at by the cat for being late with his morning snack though.

[identity profile] stackcats.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm glad that happens to other people. One of my cats in particular is fond of telling us off if we're too slow with food, or sit in his seat, or whatever. He's got a very stern 'meow'!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Main Coon's are very vocal. I really should try to tape him or something. I got home and he was waiting for me at the top of the stairs- Merorow meow merrrow! He tried to trip me the entire way to the fridge and then continued to yell at me while I got a fork and his plate and put some tuna on it. Evil little bugger.

[identity profile] stackcats.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Aawh! Sounds very, very familiar ;0)
Our other cats are much less gobby. Smudgecat is a perfect lady, doesn't even snatch when I'm handing out the catnip.

♥s icon!!!! Fuzzbutt will beg- go up on his hind legs like a dog and try to eat food out of your hand. But is usually careful not to bite.

The sad thing was the only thing of mine that I needed besides the coffee was more half and half and that I remembered. I can't tell you the amount of times I would print out a paper a day or two ahead of time, staple it and everything then leave it on the desk and then have to run around ten minutes before class trying to get it reprinted up on campus.

[identity profile] nakeisha.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
It doesn't, no. I can well imagine it was.

Ooh, now that does indeed sound as if everything is right again. Enjoy!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds like something I would do!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
The world (or mine anyway) is always better with coffee.

[identity profile] kateri-e.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
And the worse part? At 15 cents a page with a 20-25 page paper plus cover page and bibliography there went my latte money for the day so enter extra cranky Kateri stomping to class....... Once my favorite professor saw me and when I told him why I was cranky he bought me a latte because, and I quote "I want you awake and nice enough to engage the class in discussion, not lambast me in front of my students because you're caffeine deprived."

And wisdom of the ages....... you can't be ten minutes late for class if you're with the professor ;-)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
now that's my kind of teacher!!!

[identity profile] kateri-e.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I kinda miss that about college. Hanging around with professors was fun. Getting waylaid and threatened if I didn't consider gradschool was entertaining.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
threatened in good ways, I hope! :)

[identity profile] kateri-e.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL!

Last day of class for my first semester at Uni (I had gone to Community college previously) my professor pulls me aside and to tell ask me if I had applied for a fellowship position for next semester, because he had one opening in his department. He was shocked when I told him I had just started and had another year and half or so left of undergrad. It was quite bizarre for me, but

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
wow. that's quite the compliment!

[identity profile] kateri-e.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes but very freaky.

[identity profile] nakeisha.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Mine too.

*Nods*

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Coffeepocalypse! I should have an icon for that...

Glad you made it home. Can you hide out and drink more coffee for the rest of the day?
