Bouncing post of bounce

I finished the rough draft of my big bang!!!

It still needs some editing and massaging and of course a beta job, but after a burst of writing yesterday it is done, done, done. And despite my worries that it wouldn't be long enough it did manage to cross the 21k mark!

Now all it needs is a title.

Dang bloody titles

*is dense* Big bang for which fandom?

I can't even imagine writing that many words lol, so you have praise from this corner....huge effort.

I'm not too shabby at coming up with titles if you get to the point of desperation :P

[livejournal.com profile] tardis_bigbang, for Torchwood, Doctor Who or Sarah Jane Adventures. Torchwood was my first fandom. I did a bigbang for it last year too. Overall, I don't write long, the vast majority of my things are drabbles (over a third) or under 1k (probably more than half).

Titles are *hard* for me. Sometimes I manage it and other times they just FIGHT me.

I was going to say, I thought the majority of your stuff I've seen/read was drabbles. You've certainly got a knack for them.

Titles can be that way. Either jump out at you or remain elusive.

I know some people find the 100 words confining, but I like having that box to write in, leads to more of the ability to punch.

and yep, that's titles in a nutshell for me

[identity profile] mylogiceatsyou.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
I'm a shocker with writing - I need it to be a random moment where words have just happened to come to me. It could be 100 or it could be 1000...but once the moment has passed, it has passed. So if I try and start a long fic on that writing burst it generally never gets finished, as evidenced by my limited number of finished fics...which are all short anyway.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
*nods* either the words come or they don't. I like prompt comms for that. Sometimes they can be *really* helpful.

[identity profile] mylogiceatsyou.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
I got all excited about the huge list of prompts at the NCIS drabble community. Thought that would be my opportunity to go wild. Nothing, nada, zip. :P

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
I find that combining prompt lists works well. Like you look at the thing-a-thon prompts, see if any tickle your fancy at all. Then keep those (2 or 3) in mind and skim through the drabble prompt lists (or any of the other prompt communities out there) and maybe it'll take the brain somewhere that just looking at the list itself doesn't.

(I have a whole bunch of prompt comms listed here (http://donutsweeper.livejournal.com/172202.html))

Wow, what a fantastic looking list...thanks for pointing it out and for having put it together in the first place. When I'm not drowning in uni work I'll definitely take a look.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
ah, RL, always a pain. Well, maybe later!

[identity profile] mylogiceatsyou.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
I have grand intentions of attempting to finish a fic I started ages ago in the mid year holidays...a little over a month away.

[identity profile] mylogiceatsyou.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, thanks!

Every time I say I'm going to write fic, Tony says 'whatever'. :P

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Today I wrote my first NCIS in over three months. Tony did NOT want to talk to me.

[identity profile] mylogiceatsyou.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, congrats. The last one I wrote was...in 2006? I think? :P

I think Tony gets scared when I write because I may have killed him once...*innocent whistle*

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
I maimed him. Permanently. Does that count?

[identity profile] mylogiceatsyou.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Is that 'The widening gyre' that you refer to? You're allowed to be forgiven for that because it was so good. Not sure what Tony thought about it, of course...

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
:) Tony was happy in it. Gibbs, not so much. I would love to turn Gyre into a verse, but it has yet to speak to me again.

[identity profile] mylogiceatsyou.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, you could feel Gibbs struggle to deal with what was the new reality in that story. More of that would indeed be lovely. I'd love to see Abby with Tony in that world, for whatever reason.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Abby and Tony have a wonderful brother/sister vibe on the show. I just love it. I think she'd be sad, but supportive.

[identity profile] mylogiceatsyou.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
They do. It's one of my favourite relationships, along with the master/grasshopper relationship of Tony and Gibbs. :P

You can just imagine her being one of his favourite people to hang out with...and her being all smiles in front of him, then being sad when he's not paying attention.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. She'd bite her lip when he stood up too fast and almost fell over. And she'd be constantly searching the net for things that might help him, an easy to use can opener, or ways to make the bathroom more safe or whatever

[identity profile] mylogiceatsyou.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
I can just see that, her turning her head away and biting her lip...ehh it tugs at the heart lol.

Oh for sure, she'd constantly be finding little things to make his life that much easier. And fun things too...like an alarm clock that talked to him and was personalised or something :P

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
with mickey mouse on it or something equally silly. Mickey dressed as Elvis? And when the alarm goes off his hips shake.

[identity profile] mylogiceatsyou.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Lol. Funniest image ever. And every time it goes off, it makes Tony laugh. It never gets old for him.
