I am listening to songs on my itunes library on my computer and they are randomly skipping, like record players used to. WTH itunes, do NOT be messing with me this way.

Although, hubby has "Cotton Eyed Joe" in his itunes. I'm almost tempted to see if the skipping and repeating would even be noticeable in that song.

Ha, true!

I've had that problem with music players before (I can't remember if it was iTunes) and it turned out to be because I was running some other program at the same time, and it didn't like it. I had to change some settings somewhere. I wish I could be more specific! It was a long time ago.

that could very well be the answer. It seems fine now. It was weird though, you don't expect it these days (although, I suppose it won't be long before people ask what you mean when you mention records skipping)

Heh, yes. Like my niece said in my fully non-automatic car, with her hand on the window crank, "What's this for?"

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Oh dear. Our car is like that too. And you have to actually unlock all the doors yourself. The HORRORS.

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
::nods:: I have to remind passengers when they get out to please lock the door, because they're used to the driver being able to do it with a remote button. (Which, by the way... I'll be glad when cars stop having that really, really annoying "honk" alert when you've locked your car with the remote button.)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Hubby has had to explain *why* people need to lock their own door. More than once upon occasion.

Oh GAH I hate that super loud honk. I can't tell you the number of times I've jumped in response to them

.. or if it improves it.

. . . vinyl memories...

The 12" square format was a major art form IMHO

I had weird skipping problems playing iTunes files in Rockbox before version 3. Beyond that, I have no idea...unless it's another application arguing with it, like rustydog said. Close other things, then open them one at a time to identify the culprit?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
I closed a bunch of things that I was done with anyway and now it seems to be fine *shrug* No idea.

Cotton Eyed Joe is the best song to tap dance to.

My Windows Media Player skips when my computer is thinking too hard. I always have to pause before I download anything, or else I end up wanting to smash the speakers. Skipping is majorly annoying.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
I've never tap danced, but I can totally see that. :)

I think something like that was what happened. When I shut some windows the problem seemed to resolve itself.

You made me laugh with that comment about Cotton Eyed Joe. I remember a bunch of us used to try to *make* tracks skip by synchronised bouncing on the dancefloor with some amusing effects at times...

Don't use either itunes or media player (I've been a winamp girl since the 1990s) and I never have trouble with tracks skipping. *feels smug*

I've never had an issue with it skipping before, I had a lot of windows open so I assume one of them was interferring with it.
