Star Trek movie question

Just saw it.

Quick, unspoilery question- What's the name of Scotty's sidekick? Was he ever named?

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] _medley_, I've learned the answer is apparently Keenser. Woot- the actor was in Doctor Who! (The Talons of Weng-Chiang)

Thank you, imdb. Keenser! http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Keenser

thank you! We guessed that from watching the credits, but weren't sure. Kids thought he was horribly cute.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-06-21 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
absolutely! And I loved Scotty's exasperation with him

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_medley_/ 2009-06-21 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! Loved Scotty in general. And all the rest of them.

I felt sorry for Ensign Redshirt guy who went down to the drilling machine with Sulu and Kirk though

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_medley_/ 2009-06-22 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
I know! Do not wear the red spacesuit!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
although, at least he had a name, even if I don't remember it. As opposed to the random explodey crewmember extras

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
I couldn't stop laughing from the instant they said some random engineer was going with them, but I was in fits when they showed him wearing the red jumpsuit. I'm terrible, I know.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously. Ah, the red shirt. Gotta love him.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
It's a good thing I just sit at the back of the theater, anymore.

I actually wore a red shirt to the premiere, too...

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
when we went - 145 showing- it was sold out. I couldn't believe it. It's been out like a month, hasn't it?

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
That's impressive. Yeah, it's been out since early May.

Getif, I think.

Something along those lines.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-06-21 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Apparently, thanks to _medley_'s quick wiki wonderment, it was Keenser, who, interestingly enough, was played by Deep Roy, who has ties to Doctor Who!

Good to know!

[identity profile] taffimai.livejournal.com 2009-06-21 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I was skimming my flist and was like, "Duh, John Barrowman!"

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-06-21 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
LoL!!! I can see how your brain would come up with that!

[identity profile] taffimai.livejournal.com 2009-06-21 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
My brain can only handle one fandom at a time.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Further proof the world of Doctor Who is taking over entertainment.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Only he and Simon Pegg (Scotty) have Doctor Who ties though. :(

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but the both totally stole every scene they were in.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
As much as I liked Scotty, I was kind of glad he wasn't in more. The movie was crowded enough as is

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I feel they were trying to put a bit too much fan service in there.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
it would have been better if it could have distanced itself a bit more. Less cutesy references to TOS, that sort of thing.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
Definitely. Then they could've spent more time on the plot.

Although, I have to admit, I would've been upset if they hadn't gotten Bones' "I'm a doctor, not a ____" in there, somehow.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
*hee* good point. But his reason for the nickname Bones was stupid.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-06-23 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah...but those two were ADORABLE together.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-06-23 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
they really were, two friends who had spent WAY too much time together

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-06-24 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
I just love pretty much any scene where those two interact.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-06-24 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't see the slash between the two though (although I'm sure there is TONS) Oddly, the only pair I could see with slash chemistry was Pike/Kirk

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-06-25 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
I mostly just liked the way those two played off each other so well.

Now that you mention, I can definitely see that chemistry in there.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-06-25 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
See? *phew* it's not just me then

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-06-26 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
Of course, now I want to go watch, again.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-06-26 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
I know, such a task, watching all those pretty people.
