Black and Blue - kick fic filter

Title: Black and Blue
Pairing/fandom: RPS, Jensen/Jared, Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Warnings: Alludes to partner abuse
Rating: R (light R though)
Word Count: 652
Summary: Jensen is a pretty active guy, his bruises have to come from that, right?
Prompt: Jeff/Jensen, black and blue

No one notices for the longest time. Sure, Jensen sports bruises sometimes, the occasional limp, or black eye, but those are easily explainable, right? Especially considering it's pretty standard for them to be on the set for ten, twelve, even fourteen hours a day filming and re-filming fight scenes and there's plenty of times Dean is thrown into walls or through windows and, of course, as everyone knows, he just loves doing stunts for himself. It only makes sense that there would be a misstep here or there that would result in some sort of injury. No one thinks anything of it. No one even looks twice.

The make-up girls start adding a little extra pancake here or there to cover the marks. After a few weeks they don't even ask what happened anymore. After a few months they've gotten so used to the cuts and bruises that they don't even notice that sometimes, if you look at them carefully, they're in the shape of hand prints. Word filters back to Jeff though, mentioned almost as an afterthought, jokingly presented as proof that Jensen, now thirty, was getting slow in his old age. It's nothing, he knows it's nothing, but there's a little tendril of concern in his stomach after hearing it and no matter what, it doesn't go away.

Due to his own schedule it's a bit before Jeff can fly up there though, and it's nearly halfway into the season before he gets a chance to visit the set. Everyone's thrilled to see him and as soon as the boys break for lunch he thumps them both heartily on the back in an exuberant welcome. And immediately spots the wince and gasp of pain from Jensen as a result. And he can't miss the following look of absolute fear that flickers across Jen's face before Jared loudly exclaims, "Oh, don't mind Jenny, he was clumsy and took a bad fall against a table in filming yesterday. Didn't you, Jenny?" as he slings an arm around Jensen's shoulders, almost possessively, and pulls him tight up against him.

"Yeah. Filming," Jensen says quietly. "My fault, totally." Jared gives him a squeeze then, and Jensen goes practically white beneath all that make up.

"You're on your lunch break, right?" Jeff asks, trying for a normal tone. "Want to grab something and shoot the shit?"

"Actually, Jenny here was about to go back to his trailer for a bit and lie down. Weren't you, Jenny? I'll bring you something from the craft services table after I talk to Jeff for a bit."

"Yes, Jared." There's the slightest tremble to his voice and he shies away from Jeff like a stray dog who's been kicked so many times it doesn't even occur to him it's possible to expect anything different. "Thank you, Jared."

The interaction between the two boys makes Jeff's skin crawl. Did he really just see Jared practically order Jensen away? And since when did Jensen start putting up with that sort of thing? Jeff plasters a smile on his face as he and Jared head off to grab some food but then stops suddenly and grabs his cell phone out of his pocket. "Damn, I hate when I leave this thing on vibrate. I better get this. Meet you over there?"

Jared looks like he's angry at being dismissed, but Jeff ignores it with a wave and a shooing motion as he answers his non-existent call. Okay, first things first. Find out what scenes they actually were filming yesterday. And then, after he's confirmed he's been lied to, get Jensen the hell away from Jared with whatever excuse he can come up with. Then he'll call in some reinforcements. Jim, Tom, Chris, Steve for starters. Jeff's pretty sure Jared's going to need to be taught a lesson. And he's pretty sure there are a lot of people out there willing to

Well that was disturbing. Nicely written, but partner abuse fic, eep.

That's exactly the reaction I was going for, so... thanks!

Interesting. I like that it's so different from what you'd expect.

what had you expected? *is curious*

I would've expected them to be reversed in this situation. I think that's why it's so effective (at least for me).

Ah, thanks!
