SGU the liveblogging yet again

So now everyone's friends and joking around with one another? Why do I not buy it?

Ming-Na's already had more lines today then in the previous 3 hours, not sure if that's a good sign or bad.

Oh, and look. Rush is still a bastard. How shocking.

Is it sad that I'm kind of happy to see the chef/kitchen scullion/whatever?

Isn't it neat that everyone with the terrible sunburns still have slightly reddened skin but aren't peeling at all?

I never liked Dr. Smith on "Lost in Space" and I feel the same about Rush. He reminds me of when my son was two and had temper tantrum and I'd have to send him to his room for a time out.

And why gang up on Eli? That really does not make any sense. Yay for random stupid scene.

You know that whole 'running out of power' thing made sense on Atlantis with the city waking up due to the ATA gene carriers, but it makes no sense on THE DESTINY. (And let me say, yet again, that the way they entirely ignore the whole ATA gene thing on SGU makes no sense whatsoever considering this is an Ancient ship and all)-- oh, they just explained it. The Destiny predates the gene? Err, yeah. That makes no sense.

wow chloe took a ridiculously long shower. Seriously, from before the chick came and got Eli to taking him to where they talked and back?

I'd really like Young to shoot Rush. Does that make me a terrible person?

Loved Young's little speech about the computer hacker, college dropout having to save their asses.

Scott praying is IC, but still... seems odd.

And look, Peter Delusie cameo. He's had one on every SG show now, right?

The whole body-switch thing is random and annoying. (and makes no sense for the rumor that someone switches into someone having sex) I'm so glad SGA didn't do it.

Why do all the random civilians buy into the body switch thing? And why are they being allowed to be TOLD about the body switch and stargate and everything?

And the confusion over the who is in who is getting old fast.

I'm tired of Lou Diamond Phillips waltzing around on the ship and being all "I'M IN COMMAND" Dude, you screw up there THEY all die and you're just fine. They are the ones who don't have enough to eat or drink and barely sleep and can't shower and whatnot.

Every soldier every day knows there is a chance they won't make it home. Stargate program or not.

Yes, caffeine withdrawal can take down the strongest of men....

Any time I hear about the slingshot maneuver I always think of Farscape.

Eli and Chloe are sort of cute together (like brother and sister not slashy)

And they are super short on supplies, yet leave a cup of water on the dashboard to shake and spill?

What a dumbass ending though. Yeah right, I don't believe for one second the ship is going to fly into the sun killing everyone on board. Ain't gonna happen.

You know, it seems like LAST NIGHT you were liveblogging this and I was wondering why I'm sitting around on my computer on a Friday night. Time is FLYING by.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-10-17 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Time moves too fast and too slow at the same time! :)

[identity profile] adafrog.livejournal.com 2009-10-17 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I haven't watched the last two episodes. So not that cool.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
I'm just going to leave this here: MUSIC! (http://anonym.to/?http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MYNBCW2P)

And then I'll go back and read your liveblogging.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
You totally rock! Thanks so much!

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you an you're quite welcome. Oh, and I forgot to mention, the song that was on SGU is called Breathe.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
DLing now. That song worked so well for the episode, I wouldn't have thought tptb had that kind of taste/skill

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
It really did. I'm slightly annoyed that they manage to be so good with the music and yet not that great with the actual show.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
yet some people like it *shudder*

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
For the life of me I can not fathom *WHY*

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
Nor can I.

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2009-10-19 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
All during this episode, I found myself thinking, "This is boring, I wish there was less talking about relationships and more explosions! Sci fi is being ruined by... oh wait." I comforted myself with the fact that I would like more strong women and the people talking to the video camera were interesting.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-10-19 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
*giggles* I think it's a sign of poorly written dialogue and badly conceived characters. It definitely needed more BIG BOOMS

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-10-22 09:08 am (UTC)(link)
I'd really like Young to shoot Rush. Does that make me a terrible person?

If it does, I'm sharing the handbasket.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-10-22 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe the ship will fly into the sun and take us all out of our misery?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
this really is the kind of show that gives scifi a bad name, isn't it?

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Scifi and the Stargate franchise.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
it was good. once. long long ago *sighs*

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
I will think fondly of those days and boggle at just how long ago they were.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
And now I want to go watch the original movie.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
I liked the movie. And I liked a lot of SG1. it wasn't perfect, but it was SCIFI- dealing with real world issues through the alien lens

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
I really liked the movie, more so because it's one of the first movies I remember my dad liking just as much as I did, even when no one else in my family really got it.

SG-1 was scifi as I feel scifi should be (for most of the series, at least). It's fun, it's got plenty of explosions, it doesn't take itself too seriously, but it still manages makes you think about the world around you. I think SyFy has almost completely lost those last two aspects, now.
