Owen's Thanksgiving Musings

Title: Owen's Thanksgiving Musings
Pairing/Rating/Warning: none, rated G
Word Count: 100
Summary: Owen's not enjoying Thanksgiving as much as everyone else
Author's note: Eighth in the powdered sugar crack!fic series. To figure out the secret ingredient Jack used for his bread pudding look at the recipe here.

Owen pushed the food around on his plate.  It wasn’t that bad, but it wasn’t particularly good either.  The turkey was dry and there wasn’t any gravy.  The green beans were squeaky, the black bits in the stuffing tasted odd, and bread pudding?  He’d always hated the stuff.

He looked up when Tosh commented about it being warm in the room.  The others seemed to be rather enjoying the meal.  Ianto looked lost in a blissful fog and Gwen was doing something with her turkey drumstick that should be illegal.

Wait a minute, what was secret ingredient in the pudding?

I can feel my arteries clogging and my feet falling off just looking at that recipe.....

Gone on Owen love (OMG did I really just use those 2 words in the same sentence?) force some down - you *know* you want to!

I really don't want to know what she's doing with those drumsticks either!! :O

What I want to know is: where's Jack???? *g*

Under the table - that's why Ianto's blissed out.

Um. Sorry. Yes. FANTASTIC drabble and I grinned.

Isn't that recipe just a smidge scary?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-23 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
poor Owen, he's always left out of alien donut loving

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-23 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Becky! You are horrible! but.. good answer!

The way Owen's luck is running, he'll turn out to be in the .001% of lifeforms in the universe those donuts don't work on.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-23 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
or he'll never even get a chance to try them. I almost feel sorry for the poor boy

LOL! These continue to be just tons of fun. And let me just say that "squeaky" is the best description of frozen green beans ever.

[identity profile] eumenidis.livejournal.com 2007-11-23 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. Yeah, as James Bond said, "...Close, but no cigar."

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-23 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
isn't it? I really am not a huge fan of green beans so had to just slip that in there... :)

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_medley_/ 2007-11-23 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Urgh--I don't like the squeaky ones at all. Fresh ones are OK sometimes. With new potatoes and ham in them. And some really good tomatoes on the side. OK, actually I like the potatoes and ham and tomatoes, and I tolerate the green beans, but still. :)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-23 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
I have never eaten them that way. Never even heard of them like that. But it sounds like a half-way decent manner to serve them, if you had to serve them anyway. *babbles* Hope you had a nice thanksgiving!

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_medley_/ 2007-11-23 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
It's definitely an improvement over squeaky or squishy, which is how the canned ones are.

I did have a nice one, thanks! I see you had some turkey trouble, but I hope the rest of the day went well! I'm using my cousin's wireless internet and his cat has adopted me. I feel right at home. :)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-23 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
Woo-hoo for wireless and kitties! I'm glad I checked it first thing this morning, after a few hours in warm water it was pretty well thawed. But it tasted good! Cooked and baked up a storm and ate far too much, but that's what you're supposed to do, right?

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_medley_/ 2007-11-23 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
That is exactly what you're supposed to do!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-23 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
That and lapse into a turkey-induced coma afterwards. But I'm skipping the traditional black friday shopping tomorrow. You couldn't get me near a mall if you paid me

NO GRAVY? ::is aghast at the sacrelige!:: You can cover a multitude of cooking sins with gravy (and it has almost as many uses as a stopwatch!)
;^)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-23 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
gravy MAKES the thanksgiving meal what it is- you need it for the turkey and potatoes and stuffing and well, everything. But I think Jack was a little to focused on the bread pudding to remember about the gravy...

[identity profile] cloverdilly.livejournal.com 2007-11-23 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
I thought this was wicked cute and funny. My only thing is this, and I probably just missed the explanation somewhere: why are a bunch of Brits celebrating Thanksgiving? I'm just going to blame Jack.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_medley_/ 2007-11-23 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
SAME HERE. There is nothing I need that bad.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-23 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
In theory Jack's American, so I figured, why not let him make everyone dinner. It's all an excuse for the alien donut bread pudding anyway...
