Owen's Thanksgiving Musings

Title: Owen's Thanksgiving Musings
Pairing/Rating/Warning: none, rated G
Word Count: 100
Summary: Owen's not enjoying Thanksgiving as much as everyone else
Author's note: Eighth in the powdered sugar crack!fic series. To figure out the secret ingredient Jack used for his bread pudding look at the recipe here.

Owen pushed the food around on his plate.  It wasn’t that bad, but it wasn’t particularly good either.  The turkey was dry and there wasn’t any gravy.  The green beans were squeaky, the black bits in the stuffing tasted odd, and bread pudding?  He’d always hated the stuff.

He looked up when Tosh commented about it being warm in the room.  The others seemed to be rather enjoying the meal.  Ianto looked lost in a blissful fog and Gwen was doing something with her turkey drumstick that should be illegal.

Wait a minute, what was secret ingredient in the pudding?

Urgh--I don't like the squeaky ones at all. Fresh ones are OK sometimes. With new potatoes and ham in them. And some really good tomatoes on the side. OK, actually I like the potatoes and ham and tomatoes, and I tolerate the green beans, but still. :)

I have never eaten them that way. Never even heard of them like that. But it sounds like a half-way decent manner to serve them, if you had to serve them anyway. *babbles* Hope you had a nice thanksgiving!

It's definitely an improvement over squeaky or squishy, which is how the canned ones are.

I did have a nice one, thanks! I see you had some turkey trouble, but I hope the rest of the day went well! I'm using my cousin's wireless internet and his cat has adopted me. I feel right at home. :)

Woo-hoo for wireless and kitties! I'm glad I checked it first thing this morning, after a few hours in warm water it was pretty well thawed. But it tasted good! Cooked and baked up a storm and ate far too much, but that's what you're supposed to do, right?

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_medley_/ 2007-11-23 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
That is exactly what you're supposed to do!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-23 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
That and lapse into a turkey-induced coma afterwards. But I'm skipping the traditional black friday shopping tomorrow. You couldn't get me near a mall if you paid me

SAME HERE. There is nothing I need that bad.

Some places around here are opening at 4 am- FOUR IN THE BLOODY MORNING! Nutters. Absolute nutters. The places to eat at the Mall of America are opening then for the 'early morning shopper' WHY?

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_medley_/ 2007-11-23 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
It's insane. I've got a friend who's always out there at 5 am. She gets some really good deals sometimes, but...so not worth it.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-23 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
I'd rather sleep in thanks. More chance of dreaming of Jack that way

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-23 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
although a trip to the donut shoppe may be in order. For some strange reason I've had a craving for donuts lately...

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_medley_/ 2007-11-23 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. Yeah, I bet. Alien donuts are insidious.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-23 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
Kind of glad the only ones around here are normal earth ones. Safer that way. Although.. according to [livejournal.com profile] rustydog anyway, alien donuts have arrived on earth. *g*

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_medley_/ 2007-11-23 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
We Are Not Alone. Our donuts have been invaded.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-23 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
I guess that just means we'll have to keep taste testing all the donuts we can find, just to check if they're the earth vs alien variety

I like this plan. Well, I'll like this plan tomorrow, once I'm not full of pecan pie.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-23 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
oh good, you got your pecan pie! My pumpkin went over really well, it's nearly all gone!

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_medley_/ 2007-11-23 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's good! The recipe looked yummy.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-23 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
can't go wrong with copious amounts of cool-whip, right?

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_medley_/ 2007-11-23 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
You totally can't. ...Jack probably agrees.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-23 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
although he'd probably want it on the rhubarb pie Becky's been oogling...and laughing over
