Summary: Jack gets a new wrist computer.

The strap on his wrist computer finally gave out somewhere around its seventh century.  Since some of the mechanisms still worked he had a case constructed so he could carry it around in his pocket.  Two thousand years later, when every circuit had fried, he relegated it to a spot on the mantelpiece.

Eventually, in the 51st Century again, he bought himself a new one.  Even though it was the same make and model as his first, he found it terribly uncomfortable to wear. He had no idea why; it was the same and he was the same, wasn’t he?

Author's Note: There is an accompanying meta piece about the writing of this drabble here.

crack!fic has mostly taken over my brain, this drabble was written to try to counter it. I have 8 drabbles written in 2 separate crack!verses where alien donuts cause havoc SGA/TW crossover ones (which result in Jack/Sheppard and Ronon/Rodney) (http://donutsweeper.livejournal.com/tag/alien+donut+crack%21fic) and TW ones (which Owen is constantly out of luck as the others pair up) (http://donutsweeper.livejournal.com/tag/powdered+sugar+crack%21fic) they're all of the 'fade to black' variety, but silly and fun.

I love your fades - I have a friend in another fandom who carries them off as well as you do & it is a rare talent indeed. When I try I end up sounding like pulp romance.

*blinks*
*doubletakes*
You fade to black for a reason... (Don't you? - Correct me if I'm wrong.)
You went and looked at my NC17..? I didn't even know you did that...

*blushes* Thank you! That's an amazing compliment!

I'll read most fics, and especially if friends wrote it, but I can not write sex scenes. I've written some R or NC-17 stuff, but its usually for violence. PWPs are just beyond my ability to write, so I fade to black and leave it to the reader to decide what they did. 99% of the time people take their own assumptions as to where I was going and run with it, and thats fine.

(as a test, go reread Alien Donut Disquiet (http://donutsweeper.livejournal.com/34244.html#cutid1) and ask yourself where you assumed Shep kissed Jack)

Okay - and don't get me wrong because we really haven't known each other that long - I don't really associate that with you... UM point me at some please?

OH that's devious - I assumed mouth but you had the limp hand thing...

Very, very dark set of drabbles- Five Lessons Taught on the Valiant (http://donutsweeper.livejournal.com/8261.html)
Fairly dark: The Old Man (The Old Man) which was supposed to be a one-shot that mushroomed into a series. All the stories can be found with this tag (http://donutsweeper.livejournal.com/tag/the+old+man), be warned the 3rd part is terribly bleak and dark
oh, and going WAY back (for me anyway): Three Minutes 47 Seconds (http://donutsweeper.livejournal.com/3915.html) but there are others too

OH that's devious - I assumed mouth but you had the limp hand thing...

See? In my mind it was on the forehead but left unsaid I knew most everyone would assume lips

Thanks for those - expect comments later when I still can't settle... I have seen you mention The Old Man *G*

In my mind it was on the forehead
Which didn't even occur to me despite the fact I use forehead touching quite a bit - I blame Star Trek: Next Generation and Teyla!

(Old Man's become the bane of my existence, I never should have continued in the verse *sigh*)

Which didn't even occur to me that's why I love writing, unlike film/tv the reader is left to fill in all the details and usually they create a picture in their own mind that is more detailed and works better for them than I could ever hope to
