Drat drat drat drat I just noticed I screwed up the baby blanket I'm crocheting WAY WAY back in the beginning. I don't have enough time to start over either. Oh and I didn't buy enough yarn and the yarn I used is discontinued.

pardon me while I go bang my head against the wall

Oh Lord, I sympathize! My mother practically had a nervous breakdown when she found out she dropped a stitch several rows back on a scarf she was knitting and I thought she was actually going to cry. She managed to salvege it somewhat.

And then there was the time, a few years back, when she was crocheting an afghan for Ama. She did all the squares up and put all the ends in and then realized she couldn't read the pattern on how to put them together. So, in the end, I had to rip 27 octagons back to granny squares and Mum had to make up a pattern by herself. In four days. It was done at 5:45pm and the kids arrived at 7:00pm.

I am a professional craft undoer. I can ball wool like nobody's business.

I'm sorry for your loss. :(

oh dear oh dear. That's amazing work by you and your mom

My kids say the mistake back in the first third (basically all the stitches are in one direction until I made the mistake and did something so all the stitches are in the other direction for the rest) isn't too noticeable. And I *think* it might work just to buy some white of a similar weight (the blanket is a light green so far) and add some rows in the beginning and end or something. Maybe.

I have probably a month or month and a half, but my wrist isn't that good and I can't crochet too much at a time before it starts to hurt or I'd start from scratch.

My mum always uses the 'galloping past' test. Riding by on a horse, would anyone notice?

The best thing is to leave it for a bit and calm down and come back to see what the damage actually is. Everything seems worse when you're tired and it's fresh.

Oh that's brilliant.

And she's right. Giving it a quick look the mistake is barely noticeable

Take a deep breath and go from there. Good idea

Ah, a variant on my mother's: "A blind man would be glad to see it."

Sage advice.

Oh honey, that sucks! *hands icepack for head*

After bashing it against the wall a few times I really needed it

Who is in your icon?

[identity profile] mad-jaks.livejournal.com 2010-12-03 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Avon and Vila from Blake's 7
They had what you might call a hate hate relationship :D

Lol, those can be fun to watch

Blake's 7 is on my list of things to watch when i have the time. (it's a long list though)

Oh, can you add a tag for my [livejournal.com profile] consci_fan_mo entry yesterday? I need a "fandom: john doe" one. And I'll be needed a "fandom: all souls" today or tomorrow, depending when I post it

Wow, what an appropriate icon you have! (Well, I was crocheting, not knitting, but still)

Heh, well, I don't crochet, I only knit, so I only have a knitting icon, but it does see quite a lot of use! :-)
