Thanksgiving Grumbles

My stupid turkey is still frozen!

*grumble*

eta- I think the warm water bath did the trick.  It's in the oven now *crosses fingers*

I had it defrosting in the fridge since monday. *sigh* now it's in the sink in lukewarm water. *hmmm* flamethrower. might work

Oh dear! I never try to defrost anything in the fridge, however much you're supposed to. I always leave things out. They never, ever defrost all the way in the fridge.

I usually do that too, but four days? It should have worked. This is the last time I listen to the so-called experts

The water's doing the trick though, it's only been in there 2 hours and already most of the way there.

Warm water's ideal. Although yeah, I would have thought 4 days in the fridge would be enough...

We're going to some friends for a (slightly belated) Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow night - hopefully their turkey will be defrosted as well! Have fun :D

Hee! Better to light one of those than curse the darkness.

Hmmm, hairdryer?

warm water bath seems to be working *crosses fingers*

*aaargh* turkey-is-frozen disaster.

Up there with cat-ate-turkey disaster and turkey-fell-on-floor disaster.

Hopefully your thawed out and you had a great Thanksgiving dinner.

Just for future reference, cool water works better than warm. It has to do with the energy required to bridge the gap between temperatures, or something like that. And always be careful to never use hot water, as that can partially cook the meat and start a bacteria bonanza.

Of course my mother used to put the turkey in the oven while it was still frozen (at like 3 am), but she never killed anybody. My dad does the turkey now, and this year it was done about two hours earlier than he expected. We coped. :)

cool water? really, I had no idea. I used warmish, but not too hot water. thanks for the tip!
