Pet Picspam!!!

I am a bad pet owner and haven't ever posted pictures of our new doggie and haven't posted about the kitties since we got them. *lashes self with wet noodle*

We got the kitties in January 2010 from a rescue group, a month or so after losing poor Fuzzbutt. We immediately dismissed the names they came with (Mr. Brown and Gerry *yuck*)

First we have Kato aka Señor Psychopants aka Krazycakes aka Crazy!cat

He looks so innocent there, doesn't he? To some extent that innocence is due to the fact he is dumb. Truly, massively stupid. For example, he doesn't understand doors. He'll roll around in front of them hoping it'll magically open. If that doesn't work he prays to the door gods, scratches at the ground, headbutts the wall, and lastly, tries to slip underneath the door. Oddly, none of these tactics ever work.

Another thing he doesn't understand is gravity. He loves sleeping on the radiator- it's warm, there's a comfy towel and sometimes a sunbeam and he can watch the squirrels and birds in the tree and on the lawn (he'd catch all of them too, if it wasn't for the window). However, the radiator is narrow and he likes to do these elaborate yawning stretches... Guess what happened 5 seconds after this picture was taken? Yep, he fell on the floor.

He is a master at playing with yarn though. Look at how he cowers it into submission!

He is also a fan of stealing the other cat's toys from her and hiding them. He loves to wear his preventer pants. It is a good thing he is so cute.

Next we have Dusty aka Shy!cat aka Stompasaurus aka Elephunk aka Señorita Stinkypants

Even after a year she's still massive shy around people and likes to hide a lot. Most of the time she's quite good at camouflage. Can you spot the kitty?

However, sometimes she forgets, especially if she is deeply asleep.

She does not walk, she stomps. Loudly. Shockingly loudly. Whoever said cats are sneaky never met this one. Although she might be plotting world domination, you never know...

And, once in a great, great while, the cats do get along.

Last October, for my daughter's 15th birthday, we got her a dog from the humane society.

This is Molly Roo

She is an adorable Jack Russel/Rat Terrier mix rescued from a puppy mill. She is also horribly dumb. As in the unclear on the concept of solid objects and crashes into everything dumb. She's a good girl though, quiet (almost NEVER barks) and very very shy.

She loves taking walks. Stopping during the walk to have her picture taken was not appreciated.

And... that's it. Hope you liked the petspam!

AWWWWW!!!! Cute!!!!!!

How do the kitties and the doggy get along?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Overall, pretty good. Dusty and Molly have even slept next to each other once or twice, sharing Molly's blanket on the floor.

Kato is more likely to try to bully Molly (he loves his preventer pants) and will sometimes lay stretched out on the center of her blanket and shift about if she tries to get on it. Once or twice she's growled/snapped at him and he's gotten snippy with her, but overall it's ignoring or putting up with each other and it works just fine

Aw. :)

Kato on the radiator is adorable, and I love Dusty's tummy, too. And MOLLY. That first one of Molly leaves me no doubt why you brought her home. I couldn't have said no to that face!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Dusty has a very foofy tummy. And there wasn't just Molly's face to deal with, but the pleading dewy eyes of daughter. I didn't stand a chance

although, if you're going to be doomed, there are worse ways to go.

I fall to easily in love with pets. I have 2 cats, big boys - Bandit, weighs in at 18 lb and his 1/2 brother Shadow, 17 lb. They are from the same litter but had different fathers. Bandit is a gray and white domestic short hair and Shadow is a semi-long hair, all gray except for a spot of white on his chest and a white tip tail. They are 6 1/2 yr. old. I had hand bottle fed them when we rescued them from the street. They were too young to be away from their mother. So I have been their mother and they still want me to hold them to my chest like I did when they were so tiny.
My friend tell me that I spoil them but they will never grow up to be bank robbers, they will stay cats.
Ahavia

Oh wow, how wonderful of you to rescue them like that! They sound gorgeous. My last cat (seen in icon) was a big guy like your two are. These two are small in comparison, 11 and 12 pounds.

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
Pet picspam! I approve! They're all adorable!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! There is something wonderful about pets, isn't there?

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, definitely. I would love to have one again, but alas: student rooms don't usually allow pets :(

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
That stinks. :(

We were petless for 5 weeks after having to put Fuzzbutt to sleep, the house felt SO empty. I'm glad we fill it with furrbabies again. Well, most of the time. :)

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I can understand that, definitely! Pets are so much love.

[identity profile] stackcats.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
Aaaw, adorable! Dusty is especially cute :D

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, you icon is adorable!

Thank you! She's a sweetheart, but still very shy.

[identity profile] nakeisha.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, they are all lovely.

Such fun too and characters.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought Lacey might approve :)

[identity profile] nakeisha.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
*Smiles*

She does, she likes new friends.

[identity profile] aeron-lanart.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
FURBABIES!

I loves them all!

[identity profile] aeron-lanart.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
and I can't see my icon :( hmmm

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
hmm, weird, I see your icon just fine. I love the wolfies

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL, your pets seem to have a lot of problems with solid objects. Reminds me of one of my brother's old cats. He frequently tried to run through walls.

They are all quite adorable!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Kato seems to take the whole idea that two objects can't occupy the same space as more of an advisement than an absolute.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
He just may prove science and common sense wrong about that. One of these days.

Or at least get a concussion trying....

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Mine too, but he lives in hope.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
At least there's probably not a whole lot more damage he can do to his brain.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
bwhahaha, good point.

Today he got lost in the bathtub. He's a special one.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
You didn't have to listen to his sad, pathetic "Mrrow?" over and over until I finally took pity and scooped him out of there

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
Man, my cats only ever went near the bathtub when forced.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, he won't go anywhere near it if there's water in it!

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
But it's magically OK and maze-like when dry?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
He keeps trying to dig a hole in the bottom, so maybe he thinks there's gold under it or something?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
OR maybe he just likes the way his mmmrowwws echo in there

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
He's simple minded that way

[identity profile] adafrog.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Love the petspam! They look wonderful.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! :)

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2011-04-06 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Late to the petspam! But yaaaaay. Molly's ears are SO CUTE. And I love Kato's nose.
Dusty's fluffy tummy reminds me of the Fuzz, I want to bury my face in it!

Thanks so much for sharing the pictures with us and your home with the critters. :)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2011-04-06 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Dusty's tummy is so fluffy, and when she's asleep and all splayed out like that it's hard not to bury your face in it! (I have done it, she doesn't appreciate it)

Molly's ears are VERY expressive, up for excited, down and at the side for annoyed, down and back for scared.
