Holy Crap- RIP Elisabeth Sladen

It looks like the news is real:

Elisabeth Sladen has passed away at the age of 63.

The actress is best known for portraying Sarah Jane Smith in Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures. The cause of death is not yet clear.

Doctor Who Magazine tweeted: "With great sadness, DWM must report the loss of our beloved Sarah Jane, actress Elisabeth Sladen. The best of best friends. Too, too sad."

It is with great sadness that we have to report that the actress Elisabeth Sladen - forever known to us as the Doctor's best friend, Sarah Jane Smith - has died. The news, which was broken on Twitter earlier today, has since been confirmed via Twitter by Doctor Who Magazine.

Oh, I didn't even know her that well, only from the new series, but that still makes me very sad. Sarah Jane was kickass. :(

She really, really was, there are quite a number of excellent old School serials Sarah Jane was in (not like there isn't enough canon to try to catch up on or anything)

My friend Erica is a huge old school Who fan and she leant me a few serials she had taped off the TV, as well as The Five Doctors DVD. I think I saw 'The Sontaran Experiment' with Sarah Jane? I remember describing it as 'the one about the baked potato people with Sarah Jane and the guy who looks like he should be boating' and Erica went 'oh, that's {episode title}'. The problem is that Erica tends to lend things out then immediately want them back and she lives four hours away, so it makes things difficult. Zip seems to have a good sized collection of the dvds to rent, so I might take a look there.
