Two Kinds Of Help

Title: Two Kinds Of Help
Fandom/Warning/Rating:
Sherlock BBC, none, rated G
Word Count: 221
Beta: [livejournal.com profile] _medley_
Summary: Some kind of help is useful, other kinds? Not so much.
Author's Note: Written for the [livejournal.com profile] watsons_woes amnesty prompts wherein 10 fics are written for 10 prompts and all are part of the same story arc. This is the fourth story, for the prompt "actions speak louder than words."

John was missing. Sherlock knew that much. The message informing him of that had been made from John's own mobile from inside an empty movie theatre. As the caller had evaded all CCTV cameras and had spoken precisely and without intonation, Sherlock was not able to deduce anything useful. He knew two things: John had not been kidnapped, but rather incapacitated and that his survival was in danger due to injuries and the weather.

Lestrade had risen above all levels of expectation; he'd called in favours and alerted the entire police force and even pulled records of cases Sherlock had consulted on. Sherlock was almost humbled by how quickly Lestrade sprang into action.

Mycroft on the other hand....

"I've not the time to help you out of your current troubles, Sherlock." Mycroft tapped his umbrella as his spoke. "I must be at Whitehall by the top of the hour. I wish the good doctor no ill will, you understand, however-"

"Then leave!" Sherlock grabbed Mycroft's umbrella, snapped it in two and threw the pieces down the stairs. "Be helpful or be gone!" he yelled just before he slammed the door in Mycroft's face. Sherlock heard Mycroft huff in indignation before leaving. Like previous attempts to rile Mycroft, it hadn't accomplished anything of note, but it had made Sherlock momentarily feel better.

The story continues in The Case of Vast Importance. The masterpost to this entire verse can be found here.
