(Not so) NEW KITTY!!!!
Here I am being a bad pet mommy again and taking forever to post their pictures and tell their stories. A lot has happened since I last posted about the animal contingent in this house last March (here). We, sort of accidentally and completely unexpectedly, have adopted another cat.
The how, why and wherefores goes like this:
When daughter isn't home I wind up walking the dog, which (when it's not ridiculously cold, hot or raining, I don't mind since exercise is good and messes in the house are bad). So while kid was at sleep away camp I was walking Molly, 2x a day when I could get my lazy butt in gear to do so.
In the beginning of July I was walking back up the house and spotted something under the stairs that lead up to the deck over the garage- a not-quite kitten (young cat- maybe teenaged or younger)- light colored and in good condition, although very skinny. Molly doesn't notice him (or doesn't care) and since Molly is a bit of a shy, scared doggie, I bring her inside and then go out again with a small bowl of water and put it near the cat, who looks like he was about to make a break for it.
End of story, or so I thought.
I made the mistake of mentioning the kitty to hubby and he (cat lover and *sucker* that he is) went and filled a bowl of cat food and went outside looking for the cat. Who is gone. The water had been drunk though, so he left the food.
For the next few days the stray would show up randomly now and again- very friendly- wrapping himself around the legs, rubbing against the calf, purring up a storm. He'd also go to the back door and call out to us sometimes.
We, of course, kept feeding him. (He was so thin, how could we not?)

Some googling told us he was a lynx point Siamese, aka a tabby point Siamese. Look at his beautiful eyes!

The other cats, however, were not impressed.

Pretty soon it was obvious the stray was living in the next door neighbor's yard in a shady spot under a big tree and a bunch of leafy bushes. This was probably a good thing as it was getting hotter and hotter. Usually we have about 10 days of 90+ degrees here (Fahrenheit) and suddenly we were facing a week with lows in the 100s. Then one day kitty didn't come when we came outside, but mewed piteously and weakly from his shady spot.
So hubby brought him inside. We kept him in the small bathroom in the basement to keep him away from the other kitties (in case he had something communicable) and cooled him down.
The vet eventually gave him a clean bill of health, but the little bugger managed to escape from the bathroom every time he was left there alone, which earned him the name Santini, after the movie "The Great Santini". (Or Tini for short) and overall, he's fit into our family quite nicely. Don't you think?

btw- can you guess which kitty has the nickname "my little beach ball?"

He certainly fell on all four of his paws - and he's beautiful.
Hmmm, they certainly do seem to be planning word domination *g*

My brother and his fiancée recently got a third kitty. They said they were taking him in just until they found him a proper home, but the rest of us all knew what was going to happen. And indeed, Jack now has permanent home with them. This makes me think it is impossible to 'temporarily' look after a cat.

Ahem.
Poor little thing. He's such a cutie! Who would abandon him? No idea where he came form at all?
Thank goodness he has a loving home now :D

You're a four-pet family!

No more pets allowed in the house though. I've put my foot down. Any more and they'll manage to succeed in some of their plots to take over!
