Oh, and what happened? I started working out again last week, Tues&Thurs, and it's mostly strength training. Notably, I've been doing corework again, like planking, etc.
I, uh...I have NO six-pack muscle. At all. I thought they just removed the lower two "cans" and sewed the ends back together, with a mesh along the seam to encourage regrowth.
What they DID was cut the bottom, flip the muscles around up into my chest, and sew the mesh from pubic bone to xyphoid process where the muscle USED to be, and along the edges of the obliques. I've been PLANKING with only my obliques, the mesh, and the deep core. My surgeon posits that I've been tearing the muscle and scar tissue along the mesh (small tears, fortunately), and it finally decided to flare up yesterday.
I think it's a combo of that and my period trying to set in, personally, but that doesn't negate the fact that I've been a prime fool AND extraordinarily lucky that I didn't totally rip myself open. We will be having a chat with our PE teachers come Thursday...I'm allowed to do modified planks (which I resorted to halfway through my workouts last time), but I think I'll ask my teachers if maybe I can do something else for a bit instead. 0.0
