On hitting 600 stories

So, the beginning of December I realized I hit 600 stories, but between [livejournal.com profile] consci_fan_mo and [livejournal.com profile] yuletide I didn't have time to do a comparative list so I C&Ped the tags to look at later. And promptly forgot until I stumbled on them a few days ago, so here they are, complete with comparison to my 500 story list and 400 story list.

600 fics
215 drabbles (31 new drabbles out of last 100 fics) .358
108 crossovers (only 8 crossovers in the last 100 fics!) .18
56 total fandoms, 18 within the last 100 stories

(I hit 400 early October 2009 and had only 34 fandoms, including Jack and 500 in July 2010 where I had 49 fandoms total of which 31 had been written in within the last 100 stories. The fact I wrote only 18 fandoms within the last 100 fics could be seen an era where I was less multifannish than I had been, however the two [livejournal.com profile] watsons_woes challenges took place during this time period which probably explains a significant number of 66 Sherlock stories written within the last 100.)

Random factoids:
24 fandoms with only one story, of which 12 are crossovers.
20 fandoms I never wrote crossovers for. Of these 4 were written solely in the last 100, 12 only within the first 500 and 4 in both. Hawaii Five-0, with 14 fics, remained the largest uncrossed-over fandom, in the 500 list it tied with NCIS:LA and White Collar with 6 fics each.
Like last time there are 15 fandoms I only wrote crossovers for, although they are not the same 15 as in the 500 list.
I was a little sad to see I hadn't written any NCIS in the past 100 stories, I guess I really have lost my fannish interest in that show.
And as for my lack of fannish variety, that's not the case currently, in the 23 fics I've written since this list was put together I've already written in 17 different fandoms, although such diversity is unlikely to continue as [livejournal.com profile] consci_fan_mo and [livejournal.com profile] yuletide are always my most multifannish times.

Not sure what any of this means, but I find it sort of interesting.

Congratulations on the milestone! I hope the New Year brings lots of inspiration for new stories.

600!!!

*picks jaw up off floor*

Well done, you!

I have used a lot less fandoms than you, too - think I'm pushing it to get 10, unless I include the little snippets of things I did a few years back.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2013-01-07 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
To be fair more than a third of them are drabbles! And there is nothing wrong with being less multifanish than I am, I am a bit all over the place, fandoms-wise. :)

[identity profile] aeron-lanart.livejournal.com 2013-01-07 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Mind you, most of my 140 fics are crossovers too. :)

Actually, if we include my 'Denial' AU my list of fandoms shoots up. AO3 tells me I have 15 different ones; OK some of them like NCIS, Farscape, Lexx, Abney Park (I'm classing them as a fandom), Buffy Forever Knight, H2G2 and Discworld have only appeared in 1 or 2 fics but they're still there.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2013-01-07 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
See? There you go, more fannish already!

[identity profile] aeron-lanart.livejournal.com 2013-01-07 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Looks like 86% of my stuff is crossovers. Was closer to 90% than that until I remembered my first 3 Sherlock fics, which were steadfast in their non-crossoverness.

In fact, I didn't think I'd be able to cross Sherlock with anything (nothing came to mind) until szm made a comment and the Dresden Files sneaked in...

Once crossovers work their way into the brain they take roost and make themselves comfy. Face facts, you are doomed to always be writing them now. And so am I :)

This is where I need idontlikegravy's "crossovers lure you into new fandoms and run away giggling" icon...

Being doomed to write crossovers doesn't seem so bad from where I'm sitting :) I'm always surprised when I write something that ISN'T a crossover. Mind you, the last 2 additions to my main fandoms didn't start off with crossovers (my first Merlin fic wasn't a crossover, my second, a month later, was and I've already mentioned Sherlock).

I still blame you for the Dresden Files. :)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2013-01-07 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I happily accept that blame!

Although you are to blame for Highlander being in my recent mass crossover one so I guess we're somewhat even :)

I was shocked with how few of my last hundred were crossovers though, it was such a sad little number.

[identity profile] aeron-lanart.livejournal.com 2013-01-07 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm always happy to accept the blame for sneaking Highlander into people's brains. :)

I hear you on the not crossover thing - if it hadn't been for Harry, Bob and Murphy making their presence known, none of the fic I wrote in 2012 would have been a crossover, something that hasn't been the case since I first started writing in the late 90s, so I'm kind of glad I can still say I've never had a year in which I've written no crossovers. If I wrote, there was a crossover, even if it didn't see the light of day.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2013-01-07 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes crossovers just don't want to happen unfortunately. *sigh*

That is amazing. (And I love numbers analyses like this!) So many fics, and SO MANY fandoms! Congratulations!
