Swedish?

I know it's incredibly unlikely, but is anyone on my flist able to read Swedish? Especially handwritten, older Swedish? I have a genealogical document (a screencap from a register listing names, births and places) from the mid-1800s I could use some help with.

I don't, but I do know someone Finnish, who has functional Swedish, so I could ask them. (Finland spent much of its history being a province of Sweden, to the point where many places have two names, the Swedish one and the Finnish one.)

You could try translateplease. I don't know how active it is, but you can pretty much ask them to do anything.

I didn't know about that comm, thanks. I did find learn_swedish, but if that doesn't work I'll try there. Although I think I'll put off asking anywhere until Monday, I assume Easter weekend is not a big online weekend for most people.

Would you? That would be wonderful! Actually, if you know any at all you might be able to help. I have a feeling it's a fairly simple thing, just some names and dates.



The last name before the space, Carl Frederic, is the person I was looking for, and the date matches what I'd found for his birthday (4 Feb 1859) and that he was born in Nye Parish, but when I was looking more carefully I realized that's his whole family. I had some info on his brother, Nils Peter, with an estimated birthdate that matches and I had an Americanized version of his parents' names, Carl John and Mary Catherine and those names definitely match the picture as well. I can't make out their full names with Swedish spelling or their dates (it looks like Carl's is 15/18 which makes no sense?) or where they are from or the birthdate of the sister (it looks like she is Emilia Regina Mathilda?)

Long story short, I was just trying to get translated as much about the Carlson family as possible. (Is the proper spelling actually Carlson? I can't tell.)

I wound up discovering learn_swedish and posted my question there and other than one thing (the mother's maiden name) they were able to parse out everything from the document, but thank you!
