I had fun writing for Yuletide this year, but the reveals and response left me frustrated and annoyed. The recipient of my assigned fic, as opposed to all the treats I wrote, never commented or even kudos'ed (although left a glowing review and rec and gushing post about a treat they'd received) and my fics were mostly ignored for whatever reason but oh well, this the nature of things I suppose. I love "The Big Valley" and the prompter had commented about how their prompt was their Susan Lucci of requests, destined never to be filled so of course I had to snag it and write it as a treat and I was so happy to see the "Pushcart War" prompt, that's a book I've loved since I was a kid and trying to write to match the style of the book was a fun challenge so I'm still glad I participated and in general liked what I wrote. I'll be doing Yuletide again next year, most likely. :)

The Pushcart War is such a lovely book and growing up near NYC made it that much more 'real' for me.

I have been mostly following the wank. I am planning on signing up again, up until this past year it's been a positive experience and it is fun to stretch yourself and write for a new fandom or for a specific prompt you would normally not do.

Will you be writing this year?

I've been in since like 2008, I'm not going to stop now. I'm going to try and get The Last Detective and Kingdom nominated, but I doubt they'll make it. (I'm not close to that many dentists or valets.)

The 2+ nom thing has been dropped, so it's just a matter of # of fics and where and whatnot. I could never dentist, I usually struggle to come up with my 3-4 requests, let alone extra ones. I think my first year was '09? It was the first year on AO3.
