“Jack?  You’re staring at the coffee machine.  Are you okay?”

“I don’t know who made the coffee this morning, Tosh.”

“Oh, and that’s a problem?”

“Gwen makes dreadful coffee.  And Owen’s... Owen’s coffee is criminal.  I want Ianto’s coffee.”

“Well, maybe Ianto made it.”

“But until I drink it I won’t know for certain.”

“And you’re not trying it... why?”

“Schrödinger’s Coffee.”

“Sorry, what?”

"Well, it's both fantastic coffee and horrific coffee-like crap until I try it.  And I don't want risk drinking coffee-like crap.”

“I wouldn’t have guessed you were a student of quantum theory.”

“Not quantum theory, just coffee.”

ok, I'm sitting here in my parents' living room cracking up, but I know none of them would understand even if I try to explain why.

there are really no words for how brilliant this is. the really funny part is that I'm just now reading one of the TORCHWOOD books in which Jack uses the Heisenberg uncertainty principal to explain something to Gwen. hilarious.

p.s.

I'm just adding you to my friends list, if that's ok. you fic just rocks that much.

I haven't read any of the TW books yet (stupid America and them not being at libraries), but that's too funny that Jack talks about Heisenberg's principal of uncertainty in one! And I'm happy to have you friend me.

they're fantastic. I just went out to Borders one day and decided to buy them all (only had to live off Ramen for a couple of days). the combination of your fic and Jack's conversation in that book made me laugh like a madwoman.

honestly, I don't know why I didn't add you sooner (possibly because college ate my brain).

zombie colleges are bad things. Maybe I'll look for the TW books later.

I found them at the Borders in my parents' town, which is possibly the smallest Borders known to man, so hopefully you won't have too hard a time finding them...and you could always just sit in the bookstore and read them if you don't want to buy them, although they might wonder about all the maniacal laughing.

Coffee... the answer to everything

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
especially colleges with zombie-like tendencies.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 02:45 am (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 02:49 am (UTC)(link)

I'll have to go look over there.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 02:51 am (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 02:54 am (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 02:56 am (UTC)(link)

This is one of my favorites, although very people get the context (it's from the Reduced Shakespeare Company)

obscure references are the best, though.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
although they can get us into trouble....

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
*snort* ah, Sci Fi Channel.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
I loved the miniseries... but really had WTF at where the monkeys came from....

Here's the magic plot bunny hat, if you're ever in need of a spare plot bunny or two...

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
as long as they're not rabid plot bunnies...

speaking of obscure references, this is one I made from a conversation that one of my LJ friends posted:

OMG that's hysterical!!!!! conversations I get into on LJ end up with completely incomprehensible icons

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
mine end up a bit more comprehensible but strange, nonetheless.
