Sleepy Hollow random comment

I love how diverse the show is. The main cast (Abbie, Irving, Katrina and Crane) is 2/4 POC, the supporting cast 3/4 (Luke Morales, Andy Brooks, Jenny Mills and Sheriff Corbin) and the background people? A complete mix- there are female detectives in the squad room, the random cops in uniform are of all races, medical people mostly female and mostly not white. I am just so used to the sea of white men on most shows that this is so refreshing and just a breath of fresh air.

There's been some SJW wank of late but, if anything, I think they're not seeing the whole picture. Yes, it played the native American voodoo-hoodoo card, but it made did so aware and commenting about it at the same time. Is it perfect? No. But it's trying, and that's something.

Also, can I mention how original it is that we've seen the male lead in his undies/shirtless more often and for longer periods of time than the female lead? How often does that happen?

I'm loving this show, too. I kinda' dig how they've embellished The Legend of Sleepy Hollow to include the 4 horseman of the Apocalypse. And I really like the chemistry between Abby and Ichabod.

Abby and Ichabod have *amazing* chemistry. The casting is great. :)

And I'm really looking forward to seeing where they take the mythology they're creating.

we have yet to get a shower scene with abbie, but have gotten one with ichabod! and altho his was played for laughs, he was definitely nekkid and we definitely got some skin. and i love that there's actual color diversity in the casting, main characters and background characters and everything. it's so nice.

(i tend to think that part of new york is fairly white, so i was going to look up sleepy hollow/tarrytown demographics, but of course the census web site is down.)

Sleepy Hollow is in Westchester County, right next to NYC. From what I remember of the area (I grew up on Long Island, just the other side of NYC) it was partly filled with rich white flight folks but also in general a decent number of minorities. Although I did see an article saying the Sleepy Hollow police force actually only has one female black officer, so perhaps the show is more diverse than the town itself, which is just fine (and unusual since so often it's the other way around).

i used to live on the island too! we moved to roslyn right before i started high school. and at my old job i did a lot of work on a (unfinished >.< ) planning study for westchester county, so at one time i did sort of know the demographics for sleepy hollow and tarrytown, but i certainly don't remember them now.

and can i just say, i love that the actual sleepy hollow has an actual black female cop.

Apparently she hasn't watched she show because she's on duty then: http://tarrytown.patch.com/groups/police-and-fire/p/sleepy-hollows-own-star-female-cop

Okay, I have to watch those episodes in my DVR. Yay diversity!

The diversity on the show is amazing. And the plot. And the acting. (I really like Sleepy Hollow, can you guess?)

Just a warning though, there is some violence to it- nothing too bad or overly terrible, but the show does have a headless horseman in it and does show us how he became that way.
