Doctor Who 50th comment

I still think they should have done something with more Doctors somehow, and the 3D effects were horrid and nauseating on non 3D TVs but the story wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

They missed an OBVIOUS way to have the actors who were the previous companions in it though. Having the weapon be embodied as Rose aka Billie Piper worked fine, but it would have been nice if it flipped through a bunch of different companions, old and new either with the actors or as stills from previous episodes or SOMETHING. It just would have been such a nice touch.

I didn't like the way they chose to end the storyline, it makes little sense as to how all twelve showed up or how any of this fits into the canon created in "The End of Time" which is a SL I hated anyway but.....

The last scene in the museum though!!!! (But but but all the others.... WHY NOT HAVE THE OTHERS)

Yes. To pretty much all of that, except I didn't have a problem with any of the effects, and that I did like the way it ended. But yes to the rest of it! *g*

In a way though, with that ending, it makes the choice not to use the others even more bittersweet.

Oh yes, definitely. With you there.

Hmm, I was waiting for reactions to see if it was worth watching, seeing I didn't watch the last series out of sheer indifference, and don't have any experience with Old Who to be nostalgic for. I don't think this sounds like a vote in favour.

It was better than I expected. But, to be fair, I'd set the bar very, very low. I was really apathetic about the last season and I'm 'meh' on Eleven in general. I can't really say you definitely should see it, but if it's on and you're around.... go for it?

I'll have the option to steam it on the TV once Space gets it up, unless the BBC has ruled against streaming for some reason. I was hoping to they'd put 'An Adventure in Space and Time' up, since I did want to see that and missed it, but they haven't yet. Perhaps too soon.

I don't mind Eleven as he's portrayed, Matt Smith is lovely. I just don't like his writing. But that's Moffat, as always, and we're stuck with him.

I watched "An Adventure in Time and Space' it was... okay. I liked the look at TV in the 60s a lot though.

And Moffatt. *sighs* Yeah, that's all I'm going to say about him.

Hmm, sounds like I haven't missed much, then. Well, if they are playing and I am present, I'll take a look. Otherwise, Mum and I will continue with our QI kick. :-p

QI is infinitely better. I love QI.

I loved that the last scene in the museum had the old white circle-y things on the wall.
It was supposed to be 3D? That explains the funny looking parts.

I thought it had a taste of the old who in it-more fun and adventury than OMGDRAMA that's been going on the last few seasons. I definitely liked it.

Yeah, it was a failed attempt to usher in the idea of 3d all the time by the BBC. Interestingly a few months ago they released a statement saying they were retiring their 3d department and no longer going to be doing anything in it.

If you want more Classic Doctors, there's always this (http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2013-11-24/peter-davison-colin-baker-and-sylvester-mccoy-unite-for-doctor-who-spoof-the-fiveish-doctors).

That is AWESOME. Love it.

Honestly there were so many times when I just kept saying "but what about NINE??! He should be a part of these conversations too!!!"

I was a little confused about how all the Doctors rounded up for the big event, but I was enjoying watching too much to think about it. In hindsight there are some holes that need thinking about though!

Either way, it was good fun and it made me excited to see what Capaldi does.

Oh NINE. Between this and the Five(ish) Doctors thing I really, really missed him. :(
