Super huge Yuletide reveal and thinky thoughts post

In no particular order, the fics! (All are rated G, unless stated otherwise)

Title: The Scrappy Someday
Fandom:
The Shadow (film)/Captain America crossover
Word Count: 1163 words

Summary:
Lamont came across people from all walks of life in his work as the Shadow but only a few that impressed him enough that he wanted to meet them again.
Author's Note: A Yuletide treat for [personal profile] llwyden. Also on AO3.

When I first read llwyden's letter I noticed she would be happy with crossovers (and I love writing crossovers). The Avengers was one of the universes she was familiar with and when a bit of mental arithmetic made it clear that Steve Rogers would have been a kid during the time the Shadow was active I couldn't resist writing them meeting!

Title: C is For Cookie Clicker
Fandom:
Sesame Street and Cookie Clicker crossover
Word Count: 1179 words

Summary:
Cookie Monster discovers Cookie Clicker. Things go about as well as you'd expect them to.
Author's Note: A Yuletide treat for [personal profile] storm_queen. Also on AO3.

This was definitely one of those times where you read a DYW letter and your brain instantly goes into overtime and you just HAVE to write the result, because who could resist filling the prompt Cookie Monster discovers Cookie Clicker?

Title: A Glimpse of the Patchwork Paths
Fandom:
Ink (2009 movie)
Word Count: 1459 words

Summary:
Perception and reality do not always go hand in hand, especially when the one doing the perceiving is a Pathfinder.
Author's Note: Also on AO3 here. A Yuletide treat for [personal profile] hopefulnebula who introduced me to this amazing movie. (It can be found on youtube here.)

HopefulNebula mentioned this movie several times on #yuletide chat so, out of curiosity, I checked it out and really liked it. I heartily recommend watching it, but if you watch around others, be aware that there is one scene near the beginning where a character lets out a stream of curses. When I looked at her DYW letter I realized this was one of those perpetual requests, the kind of thing you ask for year after year and never gets filled. Having one of those myself, I really commiserate with others who do as well. Writing for this movie was really fun and interesting because the movie has such an unusual, dreamlike and 'other' feel to it that I strove very hard to match.

Title: The Extended Run
Fandom:
Without A Clue
Word Count: 1478 words

Summary:
After achieving rave reviews from critics near and far, Reginald Kincaid continues his role as Sherlock Holmes.
Author's Note: A Yuletide treat for [livejournal.com profile] shadow_truths aka Nary. Also on AO3 here.

Oh, 'Without a Clue'! While I love this movie, I never managed to write for it, despite all the [livejournal.com profile] watsons_woes stories I've done and when I saw this request, it seemed the perfect opportunity. It's so nice to turn the typical Holmes and Watson interaction and relationship on its head a little bit.

Title: The In-between
Fandom:
Agents of SHIELD
Beta: [personal profile] theladyscribe
Word Count: 1739

Summary:
It is said that a team's interaction is best seen in the time after the operation has finished, but before the extraction and their return to base.
Author's Note: A Yuletide treat for [personal profile] philote_auctor. Also on AO3 here.

I was really happy to see a request for SHIELD team bonding, especially asking for Ward being involved, his characterization really grew on me the past couple of episodes.

Title: Strange Bedfellows
Fandom:
Haven (spoilers for 4x01)
Word Count: 1215 words

Summary:
The trip back to Haven has a little detour; a missing scene from the season four opener.
Author's Note: A Yuletide treat for [personal profile] franzeska, because who could resist telling the story behind *that* picture? (The photo can be seen after the story.) Also on AO3 here.

Who could resist filling a prompt for Nathan and Duke in bed together? (Even if I did manage to stick to my usual gen interpretation of things to do so.)

Title: Welcome to the Department, Ichabod Crane
Fandom/Warning/Rating:
Sleepy Hollow, warning for slight raunchy humor, rated PG-13
Word Count: 3032 words

Summary:
Devon Jones was a live and let live kind of guy, especially when it came to the department's new consultant, Ichabod Crane. His partner however? Well, Luke Morales thought differently. Set shortly after Luke receives the call from Oxford affirming Ichabod's identity.
Author's Note: A Yuletide present for [livejournal.com profile] laughingacademy. Also on AO3.

It's always a bit hard to write for an ongoing, radically changing, open canon, but settling on the idea of prank warfare was a fun way for me to manage it. :)

For Yuletide Madness:
Title: Unknown Similarities
Fandom:
Sleepy Hollow
Word Count: 480 words

Summary:
Abbie and Jenny find some common ground between them.
Author's Note: Also on AO3 here. When I saw that [livejournal.com profile] randomling asked for the Mills sisters interacting in some way, I couldn't resist managing a treat to fill that request.

Title: Those We Lean On
Fandom/Warning/Rating:
Almost Human fandom, no warnings, rated G
Word Count: 347 words

Summary:
Dorian steps up when John is injured.
Author's Note: A Yuletide treat for [livejournal.com profile] astraevirgo aka astraev. Also on AO3 here. Pinch Hitters deserve gifts too, so when I saw Astraev's I knew I had to do my best for them.

Mystery Work
Fandom: Yuletide
Word Count: 112 words plus linked
Summary: Simply because. Because, why not?
Author's Note: Just a bit of Yuletide silliness for [personal profile] bridgetmkennitt

This is just pure silliness and a play off of the fact that until the archive goes live all the fics posted in the Yuletide and Madness collections are titled "Mystery Work." Then I played around with various Yuletide related tags and chat in-jokes and this was the result.

Drabbles:
(I was so thrilled to see the Yuletide Madness Drabble Invitational aka "yumadrin" this year so I could let my drabble skills run rampant.)
Title: Be The Change
Fandom:
Charlie Brown: Blockhead's Revenge

Summary:
It's been years, maybe things have changed. Or maybe not.
Author's Note: A Yuletide drabble challenge treat for [personal profile] bridgetmkennitt. Also on AO3 here.

I had to write something for Bridget because, despite not signing up for Yuletide, she wrote a million things for it so I stalked her old letters and this was the result. :)

Title: The Dish Best Served Over and Over Again
Fandom:
Macgyver

Summary:
Murdoc lived, that was what mattered.
Author's Note: A Yuletide drabble challenge treat for [livejournal.com profile] alteregon because I really could not resist a Murdoc centered prompt. On AO3 here

Title: Cutting to the Chase
Fandom/Warning/Rating:
Eureka fandom, no warnings, rated G
Word Count: 100 words

Summary:
Sometimes Jack has a way of seeing solutions that others miss.
Author's Note: A Yuletide drabble challenge treat for [livejournal.com profile] chokolattejedi. Also on AO3 here.

I have always thought Jack, in many ways, was the smartest one in Eureka, it was fun to write a chance for him to shine.

Title: Time of Her Life
Fandom/Warning/Rating:
Arrow

Summary:
Oddly enough, Felicity was enjoying the craziness in her life.
Author's Note: A Yuletide drabble challenge treat for [livejournal.com profile] athersgeo. Also on AO3 here.

Felicity!!! How could I not try my hand at a Felicity request?

Title: Found Families
Fandom/Warning/Rating:
Without a Clue fandom, no warnings, rated G
Word Count: 100 words

Summary:
The parts they play changed as time went on.
Author's Note: A Yuletide treat for [livejournal.com profile] rabidsamfan. Also on AO3 here.

[livejournal.com profile] rabidsamfan is awesome and another Pinch Hitter as well as the brains behind the yumadrin, of COURSE I had to write something for them (even if I did have to peruse old letters to find a fandom I knew).

Title: That Which We Weave
Fandom:
The Usual Suspects

Summary:
All good stories have a basis in fact.
Author's Note: A Yuletide drabble challenge treat for [personal profile] lannamichaels. Also on AO3 here.

This was a fun one, the characters of Keyser Söze and Verbal Kint are so different while being the same person, that the prompt for a deeper look into the two characters intrigued me. I only hope my drabble did it justice.

All in all, I had a lot of fun this Yuletide, made all the better by being active in chat. Here's to next year!! (And also here's hoping I didn't bork any of the coding! :D )

Aww, thanks! I'm so glad you hear you say that! :)
