Agents of SHIELD 1x11 Question

Okay, I watched it, but I think I missed where they explained what DID happen to Coulson? He died and WAS dead for a while and then they did something that somehow involved absolutely awful brain surgery stuff, but... What did they do? Is he still him or was the LMD (Life Model Decoy, a comic's verse thing) theory correct somehow and what we saw was them transferring him into one? Because there was that whole 'missing muscle memory' thing from one of the early episodes. I just feel like I missed something.

No, I'm pretty sure they didn't really explain anything.

Or I missed it too. Which is possible. ;)

I kind of assumed that was it, one of those 'answer the question without actually answering a thing' kind of ways of doing it, but I wanted to be sure. Thanks for the confirmation!

'answer the question without actually answering a thing'

I was paying extra attention out of this fear. And I knew they hadn't really drug all of the potential half answers of the 'what happened to Coulson' mystery. hee.

Yeah, I think they'll be playing with that for a long time to come.

Well, we know he wasn't in Tahiti.

*hee* true. Although that much was fairly obvious from the pilot.

I kind of wish Tahiti had been code for Asgard. Talk about a magical place!

Oh that would have been so much better!

They did terribly invasive and horrible painful surgeries. Which Coulson was awake for, apparently, since they scared him so badly they had to temper with his memories.

Interestingly, the doc was only brought in on the 7th one. So.....no, we still don't know how they made him not dead. Only that is was bad.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2014-01-10 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Well, yes. But how does that relate to his sense muscle memory issue? I just.... I was hoping they'd give us something more concrete.

I think that may have been int he first six surgeries. I don't think we have the whole truth yet.

I just hope they tell us before the show gets canceled. The ratings keep dropping.

I agree that it could have been more explanatory. They say that his heart was shredded, but all we see is brain surgery (horrific, horrific brain surgery).

As shown, it was a hell of a pingback to River Tam and the "Academy", though, wasn't it? I fully expect to learn that they've modified Coulson in important ways beyond the memory-theft.

I can't help myself. There are so many Firefly references in this show that I'm hoping Joss is quietly mandating the chance to finish telling that story, somehow, between the lines, in SHIELD.

The brain surgery was really, really horrid. Almost in a too much kind of way for me.

Hmmm, modifying Coulson might explain his muscle memory difficulty in firing his gun in that early episode. I don't know. I'm somewhat afraid they're trying too much and being too clever with it all and the network isn't going to let them play the story out properly.
