“Is it another pterodactyl?”  Tosh asked, staring at the creature swooping and soaring in the sky.

“Nope.” Jack said.  “Swamp dragon.”

“What?  A swamp dragon?  How can you be so certain?”

“I’ve had the pleasure of having tea with Lady Sybil Deidre Olgivanna Vimes née Ramkin on quite a few occasions.”

“Lady... who?”  Tosh peered at Jack over the binoculars.

“Lady Sybil.”  He smiled brightly.  “She breeds swamp dragons.  Some might go as far as to say she was a little, errr, obsessed with them.”

Giving up all pretense of watching the creature, Tosh turned and faced Jack.  “Dragons.” 

“Swamp dragons.  About so big.”  He held his hands a short distance apart.  “Draco Vulgaris, if I remember correctly.  Other than their occasional tendency to explode every now and again they make great pets, or so I’ve been told.”

“Well, I could see how spontaneous combustion could put a damper on things.”  She hid her smile behind her hand.

“Let’s see if we can capture it.  I’m sure Sybil will be more than happy to have another snood take up residence at her Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons.”

“Snood?”

“A swamp dragon that’s between fourteen months and two years old, this one doesn’t look old enough to be a cobb yet.” 

“You certainly know your dragons.”

“Well, I’ve picked up the odd bit of useful information here and there.  Let’s see, we’ll need some coal and fuel oil and hmmm... what else?  I bet I still have a copy of Lady Sybil’s book back at the hub...”

“So, we’re going to catch a dragon.”

“Yep.”

Tosh smiled and shook her head.  “I love my job.”

If it involved catching dragons, I'd love her job too! This is adorable, but leaves me very curious as to just how Jack knows Lady Sybil. Yay for Jack/discworld!

Lady Sybill! Hooray. I love picturing Jack having tea with her, I bet he was more of a gentleman than Vimes. :)

I love Tosh's reaction, it's nice to see her enjoying herself. (And who wouldn't, catching swamp dragons in Wales?)

Jack'd be all flattery and compliments and Sybil would giggle a little, but I think she appreciates Vimes's directness more. Jack would totally charm the heck out of the other society ladies that help with the dragons though!

Oh sure, I don't see her wanting to *marry* Jack. Sam has his own... I'm not sure "charms" is the right word, but excellent qualities that fortunately she appreciates. :)
