Having lost track of time while investigating a case, Holmes arrived back at Baker Street late in the day. "Blast it!" he exclaimed upon realising Mrs. Hudson had already left for her overnight visit to her sister's. So much for doing Watson that favour and bringing her the medicine for her so Watson wouldn't have to make the trip.

"Billy" he shouted for his page as he scribbled. "I need you to send this telegram to Doctor Watson for me. You know his Kensignton address?"

"Yes, sir."

"Then off you go then."

ARRIVED TOO LATE STOP MRS HUDSON ALREADY GONE

Knowledge of blood pressure apparently predates Watson by quite a bit (the first recorded measurement was in the book “Haema staticks” in 1733 by Stephan Hales).
