TW 2.04 and a pterodactyl sighting!

Overall, this episode just made me hate Gwen more.  I'm sick and tired of her being shoved down our throats with her supposed magnanimous soul and overall good heart.  Oh please.

First things first, let me just say Jack+waistcoat=delicious.  And he wore a pocket watch too, interesting.

The 'set up' and plot points were ridiculous, Jack doesn’t notice Rhys following the TW SUV?  COME ON!!!  Jack is not that stupid!  And then later after seeing that thing in the warehouse Rhys still isn’t able to accept aliens?  Oh please.

Interesting things- the dragon theme continues- a big red dragon on a banner behind Rhys in the truck.  AND Jack immediate associates with the creature's captivity and pain.  *sigh* kudos to JB for his  acting there, very believable.  ("What have they done to you my poor friend?")  Of course then Owen took it upon himself to kill the poor alien.  Well, that just sucks on many levels.  Poor alien comes to earth only to be harvested (and GROSS on that btw)

on the bad effects front... the invisible lift still looks dreadful and lighting for the warehouse was a little annoying and unbelievable but Owen shooting up alien thing?  *Sigh* if you can't do it and make it look good DON'T

Gwen... *big sigh*  I don't want to hate her, really I don't , but... her fight with Rhys  was terrible, her giving herself up to the bad guys was dumb and they way she stormed the Hub?  Made me want to slap her.  She is so horrifically self centered.  Demanding she won't drug Rhys, and that they couldn't possibly understand?  Jack "...we understand how you feel."  Gwen "No you don't"  Get your head out of ass girl, you know how long Jack’s been around you don’t believe he couldn’t possible have ever loved someone?  Or been conflicted about the greater good?

Random other thoughts-  Tosh is flirting with Owen?!  Be a little more obvious kiddo!  Cheese and pickle sandwiches?  But Rhys asking Jack if he’s gay- jokingly- and not expect an answer was a cute bit.

Gotta like clever Ianto, getting his hands untied, and then he showed his stuff- stunning the bad guys

and YAY for the pterodactyl being alive!!!!!

Re: the promo- Well, they solved the question of ‘who is Grey’ in a hurry.  Not sure if I'm relieved about that or not.

and question- Did anyone catch how much money does evil!guy slipped Rhys?

I think I'm with you on about every point. Tell me Jack doesn't notice that somebody's following him, even when they turn off the main road and go waltzing through an empty industrial estate?

I also think the writers did Rhys a really bad turn about the "no such thing as aliens" speech. Come on, what else did he think it was? A squid on growth hormones?

Maybe Owen has noticed Tosh, but isn't interested and is trying to let her down lightly by pretending he's not aware of her feelings?

*grin* Did I mention how much I love your reaction posts? I haven't watched it yet - well, that's not quite true. I watched the first 15 mins or so last night, at which point my other half was mocking it too much for me to go on. Then I tried again this morning, and got another 10 mins through, but had to turn it off at the first signs of jealous!Jack because that Does Not Work... But I get the feeling I'm going to agree with you. :S

But since I want to know the rest of what you're talking about, I shall plough on. *pulls up socks* I'm going back in and shall report back...

Reporting back :) I'm a bit meh but didn't hate it. I'm now more worried that apparently there was a doozie of a spoiler in the next trailer, which everyone now knows except me who knew it was coming and turned the trailer off. So now all I have to do is get through the week without being spoiled...

Otherwise, I think I'm just a very uncritical watcher, except when things really get my goat. I wouldn't say the ep made we squee out loud, but it did make me laugh at one point. I didn't find Gwen particularly annoying, but I did want to snark at Jack a bit... she's made her choice Jack, now leave her in peace! You have Ianto FFS and I don't care if you're jealous of her normal life! As for Owen and the mercy killing, that actually hurt so much, I snivelled.

I'm loving Owen this season, he's so much more in touch with his inner Doctorness; hating death, and more importantly the waste of life, but knowing that sometimes there is no other way. I can really empathise with that.

I'd like to see more of Rhys, please. More from Tosh would also be nice too. Ianto continues to shine brightly, and I just love what GDL is doing with him, even when there's not a lot for him to say.

I said a lot of the same stuff you did in my review. I hadn't noticed the dragon thing before, however. I'm going to be looking out for that, now. Possibly it's the BAD WOLF of Torchwood?

Also, I think Jack needs to wear the waistcoat more often.

I only noticed the dragon because someone on my flist has one with Owen as a userpic, and I never remember to ask where in the Hub it's from.

Erm just delurking to mention that the flag behind Rhys is in fact the Welsh flag . Coolest flag out of all of them and it doesn't get incorporated into the Union Flag.
