2017 fic year in review

Year in review, as seen around LJ/DW

I'm going to do things a little differently than I used to when compiling year-end stats and consider 2017's Yuletide as part of 2017 stats despite author reveals not being until 2018. I'm also going to count the long fic I wrote for a kinkmeme here even though it's posted under a sock and I will never claim it under namespace.

works: 24 (25)
fandoms: 19 (20)
new-to-me fandoms: 13
crossovers: 0 {I used to write so many!! :( What happened?}
original work: 0
exchange stories: 24 {Considering the other is the kinkmeme fill I sense a trend....}
remixes: 1 {for Remix Revival 2017}
gen: 13.5
het: 4.5 {implied relationships}
m/m: 3
f/f: 2
multi: 1
hard to quantify: (1)
G rated: 20
T rated: 2
M rated: 0
E rated: (1)
hard to rate/unrated: 2
drabbles (100 words exactly): 2
ficlets (under 1000 words, excluding drabbles): 5
short stories (1001-10,000 words): 16
novellas (>10,000 words): 1 (2)
total word count: hard to say considering the binary fic, counting only the english... 49,228 (83,780)

My favorite story this year: Probably 'The Uncertain Dawn'- 11k h/c casefic in a fandom no one reads but I enjoyed writing and researching it and having the POV of a mostly ignored character (the female main character as oppose to the two men) was fun to write and Settiai had been asking for it for something like 11 years and I was really, REALLY excited to fill the request for them. I'm vaguely considering writing a sequel/another Peacemakers fic because why not.

Most popular story: Sort of a tie between the Captain America remix 'A Little Gossip Goes a Long Way' and the Losers fic 'The Road Ahead Beckoning Darkness'. Hits-wise Gossip wins out but it's a bigger fandom so that's to be expected but bookmarks/kudos/comments-wise it's Road Ahead. Road Ahead was also longer and a really intricately crafted AU I'm going to say that one is the more popular one.

Story most underappreciated by the universe, in your opinion: Hard to say, Yuletide just finished so most of the fics have really only been able to be read for two weeks and considering most were in stupidly tiny fandoms....

Looking back, did you write more stories than you thought you would this year, fewer than you thought, or about what you predicted? I would have never predicted the huge kinkmemefill nor, considering how I felt I didn't know many YT fandoms, my YT output. That said, I'm hoping next Yuletide (as well as other upcoming exchanges) have more fandoms requested I feel more comfortable writing.
