Hmmm.... I don't really know. Tumblr was great for a lot of things (although not everything) but pretty affected by the whole flagging/purging/deleting thing although a decent swath of fandom has kept trucking along there. There's Pillowfort and Mastadoon (or something like that?), but I know very little about either haven't been impressed with what I saw of them and they don't seem terribly talked about in spaces I frequent so who knows what's happening there. Discord has some great (and very much not so great) servers where there's been some wonderful opportunity for fannish discussions and content creation, but finding the right fit of a server for you isn't always easy...

Yeah, I dunno. I got nothing. All I know is fandom will persevere. It's been going since long before those "Baker Street Irregular' clubs sprung up well over a century ago and will continue to keep chugging along, it'll just keep finding different ways to bring people together.

For better or worse, I don't see Tumblr-based fandom disappearing anytime soon. The two fandoms I follow there show no signs of moving apart from one NSFW artist who expects to be banned and deleted.

Pillowfort is a blogging environment, with some re blogging like tumblr and more support for images than DW. Mastodon is a federated computing that I only know about because some in my circle are Keeping an Eye Out.

PF is still very much in beta, and it grew very fast recently with the tumblr issues.

I think tumblr might go the way of LJ - sections of it are still trucking along just fine while other sections are really empty, but who knows. It might (but hopefully won't) pull a geocities/imzy/etc and delete itself and die completely.

I've peeked at PF and just not been impressed but it is probably a growth issue combined with not being able to find the right spaces. Who knows. Maybe one or both will become the next big thing.

Prognostication is a difficult art, and especially difficult in this time when everything is in flux. I think a lot of its have got nothing except "fandom abides." Which might be enough.

A number of comms started with activity and have quieted down nearly to crickets. There's some growth issues making interface wackiness. We'll see how the manage the scale up.
